News Dogs are turning BLUE because of 'high levels of pollution in a dirty river

    Poor Puppies

Stray dogs living near a river have been turning the heads of locals thanks to their bizarre blue fur.

But while their bright coats may look fun, the reason behind the change in hue is a little more sinister.

It is thought the colourful hounds are turning blue after wading into the Kasadi River, located near Navi Mumai, in India which has been contaminated by untreated industrial waste.

About five dogs have so far been spotted sporting the blue fur.

A water quality test by the local municipal corporation found the level of oxygen in the waste treatment (needed to sustain aquatic life) was inadequate, reports the Hindustan Times .

Looks like a copper compound of some sort is involved -- if so there will be dead doggies pretty soon.
