Yes. You have to pay again if you are with a different processor for the same site.

Err, you do?

I called Visa (months ago) and they told me once you paid the $500 registration fee, it was transferrable. However, the $250 paid to the processor for 'administrative work' was not transferrable.

Once you've registered, I believe you're registered.

As for StormPay, it would be good if they didn't keep your money in another country and didn't use someone else to process your money. And, some customers don't want to pay in ten dollar increments, they want to pay an exact amount

An additional question:

Do you have to pay for a second or a third site if it is with the same processor?

I think that's something you should ask the processor. Usually you get one account under your business name, then you can create sub-accounts or sites under the main site.

try glo-bill. They set me up, no $750.

Great service to boot, but I've only been using them a few weeks so far...

Each legitimate IPSP is required to collect the fee from you as I understand it. You also CANNOT acquire in one region for primary and another region for backup. What this means is if your primary processing for this site is done on a US account that is in compliance and you then add a backup outside the US (or possibly with a non-compliant, though I am not sure) you are out of compliance. This is completely against the rules and if you are found doing this you will be terminated as I understand it and not allowed to process anywhere for the urls that are terminated.

Hi,

If you have your own merchant account, you only pay 1x. After that, you can use any processor/gateway that you wish with no additonla registration fees.

Just to let everyone know, while we are currently paying back the $750 Visa registration fee, we are going to discontinue this practice after the 1st of May. So if you want a new CCBill account, be registered with Visa, and you want us to return the Visa fee to you, sign up now.

I was looking at either CCBill or Jettis for a new site I am making. It probably won't be ready until June though. Why is CCBill stopping the refunding of the $750 fee on May 1st? It's not that I completely balk at chalking up $750 but for newer webmasters doing this part time, it can be significant. I'm just trying to earn extra cash to buy a new car. I have an easy day job that pays the other bills.

Are there any plans at CCBill to lower the $750 to $500, which is what the true Visa charge is? Paypal (when they accepted adult) only used to charge $500.

The fee was initially intended to help our existing clients, some of which were struggling webmasters who were very surprised by the unforeseen change in Visas rules. CCBill decided that it would reward those clients for their loyalty by assisting in covering their registration fee, a decision that many of our clients were very pleased with.

We have continued the program indefinitely because some of our clients were unsure of their need or desire to even accept Visa, and we wanted them to have a chance to decide without forfeiting their ability to take advantage of our program.

The flip side of the coin to all of this, of course, is that we end up paying the full registration fee for each client out of our own pockets. In addition, we have had to add staffing and resources for the integration, design and implementation of the new systems?all costs that we did not pass onto our clients.

If we wish to provide the same level of service that we had in the past, continue to remain one of the few processors not charging chargeback fees, continue to not charge processing fees on refunded or returned transactions, among many other things, we would have to turn over the responsibility of the Visa registration fees back over to the webmaster. The program was never intended to underwrite start-ups.

We believe that all of our clients who want Visa have now registered or are in a position to make the decision. As a result, we decided that May 1 was a good time to end the program.
