The issue is that some tech companies need to be brought into line. Google, Apple et al are biting the hand that feeds them.

They are creating cash mountains unheard of in any sector, they have politicians terrified of their editorial clout, and they pay zero tax because of their unfathonable corporate structures. To hinder law enforcement really is taking the piss, and shows how arrogant their power has made them.

They need to be reminded that the free liberal society that allows their breathetakingly profitable enterprises to flourish is dependent on keeping the bad guys down. One day they will piss off the wrong government.
