Do expired domains lose their PR?

Do expired domains lose their PR from Google?

Mine didn't. I heard that it changed recently so that PR is lost but I don't know for sure.

Well, I have heard they lose it when it expires (google watches for the expirations). But, probably next major spidering, you will get a PR again if lots of people are linking to you. Google is now more influenced on what your a href tags say then earlier, so unless the domain is similar to yours in content, it isn't worth nearly as much as it used to be earlier this year.

So does Google spider for each and every domain in its database to see if it was expired or not?

It's easy to pick up an expired domain and register it the same day, so would this be too quick for Google to find out?

Once again, it worked on mine and survived the next google update. I only had 2 links back to the site from the previous owner and dropped a catch page up. It held the PR2 ever since.

The Google rep implied that google would check records to see who expired.

That's physically impossible.

They have bots that index millions of pages and rank them quite well and you don't think they can write a bot to check and see if a domain has expired since the last index or something?

Oops, I misread. I thought slapass stated that the Google reps would manually check the records.

Long day, don't ask.
