Sanders: I'm 'absolutely' introducing single-payer healthcare bill

Good or bad? Your thoughts?

"It?s unclear exactly when he will introduce the legislation. The Senate has two weeks remaining in sessions."

-----

Sanders: I'm 'absolutely' introducing single-payer healthcare bill | TheHill

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) said Sunday that he will ?absolutely? introduce legislation on single-payer healthcare now that the Senate GOP?s bill to repeal ObamaCare has failed.

?Of course we are, we?re tweaking the final points of the bill and we?re figuring out how we can mount a national campaign to bring people together,? Sanders told Jake Tapper on CNN?s State of the Union.

Sanders promised to introduce a ?Medicare for All? proposal once the debate over repealing ObamaCare ended. He is one of several progressive lawmakers who back the healthcare model that has divided Democratic lawmakers.

Sen. Steve Daines (R-Mont.) attached an amendment to one version of the ObamaCare repeal bill Wednesday that would have created a single-payer healthcare system in the U.S. Daines does not support a single-payer system but used the model as a political maneuver.

Sanders?s spokesman slammed the amendment as a ?sham? at the time and said Sanders and other Democrats would refuse to vote on the measure.

It depends on what it will cost, what services it will pay for and how the costs will be shared.

One of the hardest burdens on business are heath care costs and health problem related worker absenteeism.

In principle I think a single payer might be better. I think there is a place for supplemental insurance also -- better terms -- you can buy better than the basic.

The alternative is every man for himself or chaos and bedlam -- that is the plan the Republicans produced and failed miserably at.

I truly believe everyone should pay the same no matter your age or pre-existing condition.

It won't be going anywhere under the Republican controlled congress, but it is good to see someone talking about it.

Socialist Sanders as the point man.

Any Senator can propose any bill. Getting the votes is another story.

If this is the route they appear to be choosing. Plan sooner rather than later for another market crash and everything else that goes along with it.

I never said they weren't stuffed with lobby money.

That doesn't change the fact that the Republican leadership is not going to first be the party that failed on a 7 year long promise to repeal Obamacare and then be the party that brings socialized medicine to the US.

I would agree but.. There's definitely a plan not seen that both sides plan to pass. Republicans left it off by "ball is back in your court" and both sides claimed they would work together. It has since been admitted they have been working on a plan for weeks and now we have Bernie coming out with this. It only takes a few to jump to the Dems side to make it happen and we already know 3 Republicans would jump. Trump would be able to fulfill his campaign promise of insurance for everyone so he would sign it. It will for sure tank the markets (which are overblown to begin with) What it really all boils down to is are there enough votes willing to kill an industry, the markets and possibly even the economy to make it happen? Now if it's some sort of basic coverage single payer where people could by premium coverage's on their own all of that could be avoided and everyone is happy.

A single pay scheme would be great. But will never happen in the US.

No employers already pay a large sum for heath insurance and then the empoyees pay even more on top of that. If we had single payer all that money going to insurance companies goes away. For a single person its like 50-100 a week a family might be 400-600 a month and then there is the money the employer pays.

Single payer will be ridiculously cheaper. There would no longer be any middle man and the pharma/heath industry costs would be pushed down as the result because they couldnt hide their prices from the govt.

Sure you might get a tax increase but you wouldnt have a insurance bill and no deductibles your out of pocket will be much less. People who whine about us getting single payer are fucking idiots. The price goes down end of story with single payer.

Tax payers will benifit with single payer, under the current system its big insurance, pharma , lobbyist and health care industry who benifits while the people get screwed.

I cannot support any system that forces people to pay equally for insurance that they may or may not need.

There needs to be tiers. The dumbass who rides his skateboard off 50 stairs for massive YouTube views should have to pay more than the guy living a healthy, safe lifestyle.

One idea I have to ease some of the burden is to bundle healthcare taxes into the cost of certain products as a type of VAT. A trampoline would have a higher VAT percentage than a spoon since you can't break your arm using a spoon.
