Hm.. if ideology/religious bickering can be avoidable, and if the money does in fact go into the Iraqi economy (Not like during mandate years when something like 98% of the profits went to BP [British Petroleum]), the pipeline would be a good thing, eventually. Money will always eventually surpass ideology, on a collective basis. There might be a few outspoken fundamentalists who really care, but the population as a whole would benefit greatly from it, IF they in fact got the money (which wasn't the case during the Hussein regime).

There are plenty of Palestinians that live in America, who drive Mercedes cars, have cellular phones, and really nice houses in white neighborhoods, and they don't get on buses and set off bombs. The obvious reason for this is that people who can go to wal-mart and buy shit whenever they want don't blow themselves up... Give your average middle easterner a cell phone and a mcdonalds, and everything will be cool...

So, the US is right to do this, despite ideology.. Again, the volitional tho, ONLY if the Iraqi people can see the benefits of the Israeli oil purchases.
