I don't like to be that organized - I would just see where I ended up - The first thing I try and do when I arrive anywhere for the first time is get lost - Had some great adventures that way...
if i had time away from the kids, i would just go air bnbing around asia....Start in China..real hotel though..then thailand...compare prices...bali...vietnam...just pick the place where the flight is convenient and not expensive and you get a good deal..no plans
I Always stay a few months/years in South America and than asia. I might ad Africa to the list next year, but not sure what country yet.
I like Thailand, will be there from november and stay also in Cambodia and probably Laos and some weeks Vietnam. Cambodia is getting more popular than Thailand for backpackers/travellers. Mostly cause it is cheaper and you can smoke weed everywhere. In Thailand you also have Dutch style coffeeshop places, if you are looking for that... Cause i travel, i like to stay in areas where people stay longer, staying away from the places with the 2 week-holiday families. I never had problems in Thailand that it is to hot, staying in a beach cabin. And just look what is the best weather Phuket/Krabi, area of Hua Hin, or Koh Chang.
I like South America maybe even more than asia. It is more swinging than Asia. My favourite Latin American country is Brazil. But also in Mexico there are some nice beaches without mass tourism like Puerto Escondido, Zipolite where you get a hotel/studio for 4 euro a day. Or Isla Mujeres, when you want good beaches but not the whole Cancun Experience. I might check out Panama next month for 2 weeks, Boca del Tora.
Just look for a cheap one way ticket and go. (sometimes a return ticket is only 50 euro more expensive, look for that).
Don't think, just book and than next time go the other direction. PS, Brazil is best from September, but i realy don't mind if it rains 1 week, cause i stay for months.
