    Teen Accidentally Shot Two Cops

A 19-year-old Detroit teen now faces up to 20 years in prison for what he claims was an accident. Juwan Plummer has multiple charges against him, including intentional discharge of a firearm in a building causing serious injury after shooting two police officers he thought were breaking into his home.

Plummer's father, Vincent Redd said his son was shaken up from an attempted break-in the week prior and said he didn't know the officers were called to the neighborhood to investigate suspicious activity. "They'd been looking at this house and that house," Redd said. "He was in the basement and he heard a noise on the side of the house coming towards the front."

That's when Plummer fired a single-shot through the front window in hopes to scare away who he assumed were burglars. Prosecutors last week said that however wasn't the case because the two officers were in full uniform and allegedly knocked on the door. Plummer alleges he didn't hear a knock.

"He never heard anyone announce themselves," Redd said. "He just saw flashlights down by the window and heard a noise approaching the porch."

Detroit police said the shot gun blast grazed one cop in the arm, while the officer was hit in the face with two pellets, one pellet became lodging his jaw. Redd said he's now focused on finding a lawyer that truly believes his son, but is also aware the situation did occur and says his son is prepared to face the consequences.

He heard a noise outside and blindly shot through a window and you consider that a legal kill?

I sleep with my windows open. My master bedroom pretty much spans the width of the house so I have windows open on the back of my house and both sides. I hear everything at night. If I shot at everything that went "bump" in the night I would have killed three of my neighbor's dogs and had the police at my house pretty much every night since I moved here.

He was in no danger and under no threat. He shot two people for no reason.

But you don't live in Detroit.

Good! I don't care how scared you are. You don't shoot blindly out a window

                      You are correct.

But I am pretty confident that I would not be shooting at every noise outside my window if I did.

Laws are mainly reactive then punitive and not preventive. If they were preventive there would be little crime.

Question: Why was he in his basement late at night? He lives in Chicago that's dangerous. What's in his basement that was so important?

lol Have you not seen videos of people driving through Detroit neighborhoods. If you can live there and not shoot through your door at least once in your life you should probably be given the key to the city..
