News Tiger Woods arrested on suspicion of DUI

(CNN)Golf legend Tiger Woods was arrested around 3 a.m. Monday morning on suspicion of driving under the influence in Jupiter, Florida, Jupiter police spokeswoman Kristin Rightler said.

Woods was booked into a local jail and released on his own recognizance with no bond a few hours later, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office's online records.
Woods, 41, who has undergone multiple back surgeries in recent years, hasn't played competitive golf since he was forced to pull out of the Dubai Desert Classic in February.
His most recent operation was just more than a month ago when he underwent fusion surgery on his back. Woods said in a blog post published Wednesday that "it was instant nerve relief."
"I haven't felt this good in years," he said.
Woods also said in the post that his long-term prognosis for returning to professional golf is positive, but that he won't be able to twist his back for another two to three months.
"Right now, my sole focus is rehab and doing what the doctors tell me," he wrote. "I am concentrating on short-term goals.
"I want to thank my doctors for their great work and support throughout this process. I also want to thank the fans for your phenomenal support. It means more than you know. There's a long way to go, but as I said, words cannot convey how good it feels to be pain-free."

I was going to say the same. It sounds like he has spent the last handful of years in constant pain. That is a recipe for painkiller addiction and a guy like him will have the means to easily get them. It may turn out to not be that and just be him drinking too much (or maybe he is drinking to deal with pain), but I'm not going to be shocked at all to hear that he is going to rehab.

Good news is...he can be a powerful spokesman for the youth and addiction rehab if/when he gets help and comes through it.

Very true. Hopefully he gets things back on track. Non-stop back surgeries has to take its toll. Especially when it takes away the only true love that he has besides white women, golf.

Because people who are addicts aren't thinking clearly.

If you or I had THAT kind of money...I would always go out in a limousine at night or when drinking.

But if you are a pill addict? You have lost that ability to make sound judgements. And of course drinking on opioids magnifies the effects of both the pills and the alcohol further impairing your judgement.

His potentially being on painkillers aside, there are a lot of people who don't realize just how little you have to drink in order to be legally drunk. It differs from person to person with a lot of factors to consider, but it is possible to go out to dinner, have a few drinks and actually be legally drunk while thinking you are okay to drive. Also, booze takes a little time to get into your system. So you might have a few drinks and feel fine, then 30 minutes later it hits you while you are driving home and it is trouble.

The report says he flunked the field sobriety test badly ... he couldn't do the one-leg stand or the nose touch. The report says when asked if he understood the Romberg alphabet test, he stated, "yes, recite entire national anthem backwards."
According to the report, Woods was arrested and taken to a testing facility. At 4:28 AM, he took a breathalyzer test and blew zeros. It says he was "cooperative as much as possible, very droopy, extremely sleepy, hard to keep eyes open, hard to walk."
Tiger has since said he had an "unexpected reaction to prescribed medications" ... adding, "I didn't realize the mix of medications affected me so strongly."
He's due in court in July.
