    Is Mech Bunny worth it?

    At $499 Mech Bunny seems kind of pricey for a tube script. Is it a worthwhile purchase/investment? How long do you think it would take to make back the $499?

    Also, can it be run on a shared hosting account, by scraping the videos from other tubes, not actually hosting my own?

      You can not run this script on the share hosting. You will need a good VPS at least. Forget about it, you may run a tube on a Wordpress with the themes from sites like XWPThemes.com.

              You can't run it on shared hosting - at least not all the functionality. Most shared hosts will not have the required dependencies, nor would they probably let you use the server resources required for transcoding videos etc. If you are scraping videos, you will also probably use more space then a shared host will give you - even the ones that have high space limits give you limits on disk io or inodes so if they offer 1tb you will have trouble actually using it. If you are on a budget, I recommend a vps or a cheap dedicated server from soyoustart or kimsufi.

                      The level of support you get from Mechbunny is worth the $500 alone, let alone the fact it is an unlimited domains license, can span multiple storage servers, has ongoing development, is unencrypted to the point you can do whatever you want with it design wise, and a slew of other features.

                      I think it's well-worth the $500.

                                              I second that. Having in mind that the license is not domain limited, it's the least expensive script out there. Definitely more secure than WordPress.

                                              Running a tube is no joke, when you count in the amounts of traffic you will be getting. If you can not manage to get let's say $20/month VPS on Digital Ocean (Linode?), then forget about running a tube. You will save some time and money.

                                              Mechbunny is very well worth the money, having in mind that their support is very good and Konrad is always helpful.

                                              If there's some feature you need and it's not available yet, you could either hire Mechbunny to develop it, or you could simply make your own fork, since it's 99% open source. The script is very stable.
