Myself, as punk rocker (with emphasys in both PUNK and ROCK) for as far as i remember and playing in bands through my whole life, i feel offended. And i feel that most people would totally disagree with you.

I hope this was all in the spirit of GFY, if not, do yourself a favour and grab some Toy Dollz CDs for some old school punk with true musicians, just as a pinch of the bands that i could recommend, or try "The New What Next" or any Hot Water Music CD and then come back here and say that punk rockers can´t play their instruments.

Aside from Rancid and Gob I don't know many which I like.

Groups like the Ramones and their song "I wanna be sedated" and the Pixies are more classic rock than punk IMO. Great songs but nothing hard or edgy about their music (maybe it was when it first came out but not compared to what's out now). Quite mainstream.

I also prefer ska.

Now that's a group that kicks arse! Not at all punk though.
