Do you still invest in domains?

With all the new TLDs it seems like anyone can have a very good keyword domain. If I were starting a new site I would rather have lesbians.xyz than having to settle for lesbians4u2day.com or some other off-the-wall available .com domain. I would think that mediocre .coms would be worth way less now.

I wonder if Google treats the new TLDs as well as the .com domains?

Yes, and .coms are still the standard and will be for a long time to come.

I don't invest in domains anymore in the sense of actively buying with the intent of selling for more later. I do have 100+ that I continue to renew and sometimes sell if someone comes knocking. But I don't think I've bought a new domain this year so far.

HugeDomains is a huge problem. It used to be that you could get good domains for $10 that expired, but HugeDomains is getting basically everything good that drops. So you're left with looking for unregistered domains that dropped prior to HugeDomains expanding their drop catch activity.

I don't invest with intent to sell, but I do seem to sell quite a few.

Mainly I buy a bunch with ideas that I might have. I try to pick some good keywords, but also if I haven't made anything professional for the domain yet, I usually use a redirect or create a simple page and leave it up for sale. A lot of the time if the domain doesn't sell I'll turn it into something profitable (when I get around to it).

I currently have 488 domains majority .com, 407 are for sale. I've bought like 27 over the last month or two. I've sold anywhere from $300-100k+ over the last 14 years or so.
