usually the job of the door staff, then management, the bar tender can refuse or ask for ID, but predominantly it´s the door staff or managements position to keep an eye on age

My partner who was a door man got 2 people wrong, although, would have asked ID on one & yet was still over 18, as the age is 18 in the UK...

This actually making it easier to tell usually, although the 15yr old girl was a bit like omg, thought maybe 19

The new scam in L.A. Clubs and I'm sure other cities by now, is most doorman act "confused" about age and insist on running your driver's license thru an electronic reader to verify age. Like they can't use their fucking eyeballs??

The readers get your name, address, birth date, everything about you except your social. It's the biggest info scam going down right in your face. And when confronted with the device, most will allow it because "everybody else is doing it" and what person doesn't want to enter a club after parking and waiting in line for an hour?

      What a great info scam.

The other guy at the door probably has a credit card reader at his desk, so they can get you personal info along with your credit card digits.

I see the readers all the time at clubs and flashy youth driven bars.

      They should be sued.

I don´t see why you think it´s a scam for a professional door supervisor to check all your id, if trouble occurs, the club has all your ID...

This is good, not a bad thing

Most door supervisors are on anything between $15 and $100 an hour in the UK, they´re not interested in scamming. Most doormen make between $100 and $500 a night in GBP obviously.

Bartender friend of mine got arrested for selling to under age. Oddly the camera showed him take the ID, check it hand it back and serve.

Turned out to be a fake Issued by the dmv. The state said. " You knew or should have known " and he lost his job as well.
