Tell me your Luxury Car stories.

I am sitting on the fence and trying to decide on what to buy next. I ordered a Lexus GS430 but passed on it back in Feb when it arrived. I just can not make up my mind.

I know I want a BMW, Lexus, or another Mercedes....But which one?

Gonna test drive a mercedes S500 this weekend but it is over $20,000 more than the Lexus I like. Can I really justify this?

I am not interested in other suggestions at this time......Just the 3 types that I mentioned.

What are your experiences and thoughts?

Why did you have to order a GS 430? I see those things on the lot everywhere...was it custom or something?

I like the 5 Series BMW. I'm not as loaded as you, so I just bought myself an 11 year old 525i for practically nothing. I get to pick it up in 2 hours...so I'm a happy camper today.

The new 740's are nice. Talk to Wouncie...I hear he loves his, and rightfully so. It's one sweet ride.

The Lexus SC is a real eye-catcher. Gotta love the hard drop top. Aside from that one, the LS and the RX...Lexus is just another Toyota. Not that that's a bad thing...but probably not what you're shooting for.

Just get the 745i.

I doubt you're trying to get up into the 100's like everyone keeps pointing out.

You'll be happy with that car, I guarantee.

Yes. I passed on it for 2 reasons. 1: I was not sure that it is what I want. 2: I made a couple of grand by passing it on to another buyer.

You actually found someone to pay over retail on a Lexus GS? I'm impressed my man, good work.

No, he doesn't but on the flip side....He is correct. I am looking in the $60-$80,000 range. The SL500 is a sweet ride but not practical for me right now. I am looking at 4 door versions.

As far as the Audi suggestion...I recently sold my A4. Not my cup of tea. Way to read the thread too NewB. Go order your free T-Shirt, Mr. 100 posts.

I didn't find the buyer...The dealer did. And they did not pay over retail. I ordered the car at cost.

I'd stay with the Benz. My ex has the new 745 and I've driven it a few times and its got too much complicated stuff going on. A friend of mine who is a car dealer says the 745 has a high return rate cause of this. Drive one for a bit and you'll see what I mean.
And I usually like complex stuff, but the Beamer takes it too far. Its like piloting a plane. And the navigation system will drive you nutty with the big console knob you push, turn, pull. I got dizzy from it all.

Want vs. need. That is the entire question here isn't it?

I have what I need. I want more.

I plan on buying a 2004 anyway.

Personally I would choose the Merc AMG. Damn thats a sweet ass car. I've never had experience with any of the choices but just for looks I would have to stick with the Mercedes. Also I read some reviews on it and watched some progrmmes about it and every review was outstanding!

There is a programme over here called TopGear and the presenter is Jeremy Clarkson (I'm sure you'll have heard of him) he basically drives cars all day long and says what he thinks of them! He knows his shit - he has driven over 500 cars and he bought the Merc AMG. He even traded in his ferrarri 355 for one!

Hope that helps!

Wait and try to get your hands on a Mayback.

Short of that, I'd say don't rule out the S500. I've had two, my current one is a 2002. I test drove the GS430, but I don't feel bad about spending the extra money. I think once you take out the Benz you'll forget about the $20k, but that could just be me. I don't really like the look of the Beamer 750 series personally, I think they've been getting uglier over the years. I used to own a '91 850, that was one of my favorite cars ever, the perfect Beamer.

Aaron,

I just got the new BMW 540i - I highly recommend it. Plenty of power and luxury.

Mercedes is for when you turn 50.

haha S55 it is just a Supercharged V8, it is nothing now
2004 S600 is V12 Twin Turbo. over 600 pounds of torque.

S500 vs 745i
go with 2003 745i. Do not buy 2002 BMW, too many computer problems in them. 2003 are all fixed.

M5 vs E55 AMG

Go with E55, m5 is going out of production this yeat. Next m5 commung out in a year or 2. so you will lose value pretty soon.
E55 is a real beast.
