Passenger was forcibly removed from a United plane

A passenger was forcibly removed from a United plane after the airline overbooked the flight ? and the internet isn?t happy about it.

This was entirely United Airline's fault and the aircraft staff. They could have stopped issuing boarding passes once the plane was full or asked all the passengers who were willing to take another flight for a monetary reward. Instead they chose to get thugs to drag a man off the plane.

United CEO: Passenger 'disruptive belligerent'

Of course, they have to blame it on the passenger.

United CEO Oscar Munoz doubled down in a letter to employees on Monday evening, claiming that employees "followed established procedures" when removing a passenger from a plane because it was overbooked, and calling the passenger "disruptive and belligerent."

United had to ask several passengers who had already boarded a flight from Chicago to Louisville on Sunday evening to leave, as the airline had sold too many tickets. One man refused to leave, and United called airport officials, who forcibly removed him from the plane.
So why not tell people who hadn't boarded or seat they had lucked out?

Munoz appears like he wants to lose business by acting like a prick.

I agree with VladS, sue and make them look very bad. They will settle out of court to dodge further bad publicity.

Incompetent company, they overbooked and they force passengers to get off the plane.
Very upsetting.

The plane wasn't over booked, they wanted 4 passengers to get off so 4 employees could take their seats.. I'm assuming they needed to send some employees to another airport for some reason.

Regardless this is a public nightmare because it's not just this one thing. There are all sorts of fucked up stories coming out of the woodwork from other shit they have done over the years.

How the cops treated that guy is fucking insane. It's not just united, the cops did that to him..

Because, idiot, there is special algorithm which picks lowest ranked passengers based on his/her status and fare class. Airlines puts them on a next flight and give them hefty voucher for future travels. This guy is just a drama queen. If they had to relocate pilots and jumper seat is already taken by another employee and no-one volunteered, they go with least profitable one. Its actually in your "conditions" when purchasing tickets.

I had something similar happen to me in Venezuela, without the blood part. If i remember correctly it was Air Veaza ( no longer in business ) They overbooked the plane by 78 passengers, this was two days before Christmas. At least we didn't get on the plane but it was a nightmare, people screaming and shouting. I ended up jumping over a security barrier chased closely by 2 guards with machine guns, to get to British Airways offices so that i could switch flights as Veaza didn't have another flight from Venezuela for 5 days to the UK ?

Veaza had to pay for a hotel for myself and my girlfriend plus all the food and drink. I threw a pool party and charged it all to my room, must have cost the airline a small fortune, fuck them!

Its unusual for an airline to remove passenger from a flight in favor of staff unless they are dead heading (they need to get to another flight or it will be cancelled) They have to travel on a D2 card which is upgraded to a D1 in cases like this. What United did was untenable and i hope they get sued to hell and back.

Its already costing them millions on paper, ww.marketwatch.com/story/uniteds-stock-is-set-to-fall-5-and-wipe-1-billion-off-the-airlines-market-cap-2017-04-11

Dude the guy was from China, he probably didn't understand what was going on. Think about traveling in this country right now as a foreigner with all the Trump bs going on with travel bans and excessive searches.

The video was watched over 100 million times in China already

China?s internet users accuse United of prejudice after it dragged an Asian passenger off a plane

American Airlines buys $200-million stake in China Southern Airlines - LA Times

"The incident, which unfolded on Sunday, was the number one trending topic Tuesday on Weibo, China's answer to Twitter, attracting more than 100 million views.

Many commenters called for a boycott of United, accusing the airline of discriminating against the passenger because he is Chinese.
"It's straight up discrimination," one widely shared post said, while another commenter said they would never "fly with United again in my lifetime."

Chinese outcry to boycot United Airlines

British Airways overbooked my flight from Orly (Paris) in 2014 and I missed my connecting flight back to the US. It cost me $746 to stay overnight in London and pay for a new flight. He got off cheap ...

"He was kind of saying that he was being singled out because he's a Chinese man" when speaking to the manager, who was African-American, Bridges said.

"You should know what this is like," the man said, according to Bridges.
So he not only played the 'I'm an important Doctor' card, but also pulled the race card.

He should have just left the plane like the other 3 passengers and he would not have been a victim!

Bullshit

If I buy a ticket and have to go somewhere they shouldn't be able to forcibly remove me for their staff to fly in my place, that's their own logistics issue.

Also United was being cheap, other airlines do an "auction" for passengers and stand in the isle raising the price offered to leave the flight (plus a refund of your ticket), over and over until hands go up, usually at $1,100 or so. United stopped at $800 when nobody raised hands and decided to choose people randomly to kick off the flight they paud.

Fuck the algorithm. They sold too many seats, then hauled a guy from the seat he had paid for. This will cost them a lot of money.

Right, Trumps fault. Have you ever seen mainland Chinese act? I was checking out from Hotel in Japan once and huge group of Chinese arrived. Holly shit, it is hard to describe what was going on. Those guys are savages!! They are the rudest Asian people on earth. Even HK Chinese can't stand them. This was no exception! Dude probable elbowed everyone and boarded before first class as well.

This was entirely United Airline's fault and the aircraft staff. They could have stopped issuing boarding passes once the plane was full or asked all the passengers who were willing to take another flight for a monetary reward. Instead they chose to get thugs to drag a man off the plane.
It is my understanding that they did ask for volunteers to leave the flight and apparently three did but they needed four seats. Also it is my understanding that that the seats were needed for company employees. The situation was not handled correctly though, in my opinion.

We ran an eco-tourism biz in Merida, Venezuela years ago and the Caracas airport was almost ALWAYS a high drama adventure. And that was before Hugo Chavez. Thank God we bailed out of that mess of a country....

This was entirely United Airline's fault and the aircraft staff. They could have stopped issuing boarding passes once the plane was full or asked all the passengers who were willing to take another flight for a monetary reward. Instead they chose to get thugs to drag a man off the plane.

Unitedâ??s stock falls 1.1%, wipes out $255 million off the airlineâ??s market cap - MarketWatch

not surprising of course!

If police will ask to get out, just do it. Don't argue.

here is good sample for people who refused to get out.

hahaha ...

I had similar experience , in Caracas , when our aircraft had a mechanic failure, on route to Cumana .
Military with machine guns were preventing us from leaving the airport, as we were " in transit " . They threatned an Israeli guy that really fit the profile of Mossad ... they standed down after a few minutes....

Funny thing, the plane broke down 2 weeks later on the way back ( Nationair ... )

I've watched this video like 12x's what kind of "Doctor" behaves this way? Running around up /down the aisle chanting he has to go home? I think not only United lost out in this ordeal but this man probably lost some credibility himself. Was there any confirmation that this man was even really a doctor yet and his story was true?
