According to general theory of relativity, spacetime is a four dimensional continuum. The only reason we're stuck moving from past to future is a minus sign before the time term in Einsteins equations. In reality, both space and time are all there: you're always being born, you're always dying. All the events are there already, the ability to make choices is a comforting illusion.
Then there is quantum mechanics, which is a ridiculously successful theory. It agrees with experimental data to 17 decimal places. That's if you were to measure perimeter of a continent to precision of the width of the human hair. But I'm not even going to go there, most of you wouldn't get it anyway...
There is no need for fairy tales. Human imagination can only take us so far. Nature is more fucked up than we can ever imagine.
