U.S. Navy strike group to move towards Korean peninsula: U.S. official

A U.S. Navy strike group will be moving toward the western Pacific Ocean near the Korean peninsula, a U.S. official told Reuters on Saturday.

The moves comes as concerns grow about North Korea's advancing weapons program. Earlier this month North Korea tested a liquid-fueled Scud missile which only traveled a fraction of its range.

The Carl Vinson strike group, which includes an aircraft carrier, will make its way from Singapore toward the Korean peninsula, according to the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity.

In view of the regional threat now posed by North Korean missile tests and nuclear ambitions, he said, the Chinese ?do not believe the conditions are right today to engage in discussions with the government in Pyongyang?.

?We?re hopeful,? he added, ?that we can work together with the Chinese to change the conditions in the minds of the DPRK leadership. And then, at that point, perhaps discussions may be useful.

?But I think there?s a shared view and no disagreement as to how dangerous the situation has become. And I think even China is beginning to recognize that this presents a threat to even to China?s interests as well.?

This is very, very simple.

North Korea is no threat to anyone. NK can make all the threats they want, beat their fists on their chests, launch missiles but... At the end of the day North Korea hasn't attacked anyone in the past fifty years. They are a paper tiger - They do not have a blue water navy, and cannot project military strength on anyone other than South Korea and even that would be fruitless.

We can send in two hundred thousand US troops, have thousands of Americans die, only to be faced with occupying another country and spend billions of dollars trying to support a country with no basic services.... Or we can let them continue to beat their fists on the chests.

Do you see what I am saying? We have two options:
1) Do nothing, and nothing happens.
2) Invade, have thousands of Americans killed, and spend billions trying to unfuck an entire country that doesn't have basic plumbing.

This is why no one does anything. The cost is too high and the reward is too little.

Everything that North Korea is, is due to China, their technology, materials, rocket fuel, etc. Everything.

China created the North Korean threat as the long arm of Chinese military capabilities against America. The equivalent would be America propping up Mexico or Cuba as a possible nuclear deterrent against South America or Africa, we would own them but they'd technically be their own govern country acting on their own.

China could stop all their NK bullshit with a phone call, not sure what's going on, unless Kim Kong Un has gone rogue, which should be just as easy for China to take care of.

At the moment. They are growing stronger by the day making missiles for unfriendly States.

1) Do nothing, and nothing happens.

No need to invade, food is the major weapon. Plus getting China to bring them into line.
