i also go with "the match". but the thing is, the riddle is worded as it mentions 3 things and "which one would you light up first?", meaning you have to pick one of the lamp, newspaper and wood.

Alright, here is one for you.

You are downstairs in a house and you have 3 switches in front of you, all in the "off" position. There is one bulb upstairs which is turned off. One and only one of the switches control the light bulb. How do you determine which one of the 3 switches controls the bulb if you can only go upstairs once?

bulb is lit: 1
bulb is off but warm: 2
bulb is off and cold: 3

other than checking with the options David suggested, You could go eeni meeni minee mo & put a tenner on it, and usually it would be the nearest switch to the upstairs :winkwink:

Yeah, or just fuck up the whole building, break down the walls and find the cable that goes from the switch to the bulb innit? :D
