Some CH servers still down... 1+day and counting :disgust

IntenseCash 04-03-2017 12:16 PM

We host with them as well, last night we were about 85% back up. Just a few miscellaneous issues to work out, but they are working on it.

Validus 04-03-2017 12:24 PM

Why wouldn't you host with NationalNet directly?

SweetT 04-03-2017 12:37 PM

Hey Guys....

I dont want to discuss any specific customers in public like this as we take their privacy very seriously. However, in general terms, the very few customers that are still having issues are not as simple as bringing the server back online because the servers were not shut down gracefully. There are a few that have some hardware issues (replacing a motherboard or replacing HDDS or RAM, etc) and while most of those have already been handled there are still a couple we are working through. The remainder are issues with corruption. Situations where we are being forced to bring Databases back from the dead or recovering corrupted data or simply restoring from backup. These take longer depending on the size of the Databases and we are simply at the mercy of the machine. We cant pay the machine any money to move faster and we can't kick the shit out of it even if we really wanted to.

It sucks for our customers because this is not their fault. This is all on us. We will try to make it right by them but that is not helping them right this minute. It is like I told a friend a little while ago....even though 99% of our customers are back to perfect shape again, the 1% of them don't really care. All they know is that they are still down and they are mad. I would be too. I get it.

One thing people know about me is that I am transparent. I will tell you straight even if it is not good for me. You will never hear anyone saying that I ever lied or covered anything up. This is all on us and we do everything in our power to make it right.

Sorry, again, to everyone who was affected.

You're a joke. Clearly, you're not hosting with NationalNet, their service is AMAZING.

All of this is really messing with us right now because we have a migration planned for Wednesday night -- which is now up in the air. A lot of things have been scheduled and planned for this migration.

Anyhow... you suck.

We are one of the unlucky one in that 1% which are still down due to corruption...

RandomNinja 04-03-2017 05:00 PM

VladS 04-03-2017 06:30 PM

I'm not one to kick a company when they're down, but he is entitled to call them out. I mean, it's pretty much their only job to keep your sites up and online, and when they go down for 2 days that's absolutely unacceptable.

3xmedia 04-03-2017 10:54 PM

I agree, 2 days downtime is crazy, it can ruin your traffic and SERPS, I don't host with NN directly but have some sites @ CH (still down)... although I don't have 100% fresh backups, I'll move them to another host today

One of our sites was down for 3 days last month due to a data center outage leading to messed up servers (same issue NN is having now) and search engine traffic post-downtime was the same as it was before. That was a month ago and traffic is still unchanged so downtime of a few days may not be the end of the world, but it still sucks.

Yeah, it's amazing to overpay x2 times for a host suitable for blogs :1orglaugh

NatNet were viable maybe 15 years ago. Seems like they're still stuck in there.

247mg 04-04-2017 08:32 AM

We're finally back online... still not with 100% data but atleast all system is up and running now...

This is hard for me but I need information on who else is still having issues.

I love T and the NN crew but this is looking and reacting more like a hardware issue than a power outage.

We are three days now and still down or not 100%.

things came back up and strange things happened with DNS and routing. Versions of modules were different and many other suspicious issues that tell me this is more than just a power issue

anyone else?

Tony mentioned in a previous post that some servers were experiencing corruption issues since they were not gracefully shut down.

After the power failure all our server were up and running under 5 - 6 hours but main DB (mysql) server got corrupted. So yes our prolong problem was due to data corruption but no hardware failure.

------------------------

I would like to say that NationalNet is top notch NO DOUBT about it. No host is perfect and down time can happen with any one but how you deal with that matter and how you handle customer this is what matter most.

Last year when we were with Amerinoc and down time happen, no one was available to help us so that was pathatic.

Tony and all NationalNet tech crew are completely dedicated and very very helpful. The way they deal us is awesome. Sad we lost 2 days but what happen is happened, look forward and move on.

:thumbsup

Just an update for anyone interested. I was credited $11 for my hosting being down for over 3 full days.

Also since then I've been having constant problems. Will be switching things to another host when I have a chance.

Anyone else still having trouble with Certified Hosting?

$11? Unbelievable.

SweetT 05-07-2017 08:36 AM

Hey Everybody....

First, thanks to the "little birdie" that gave me a heads up that this thread may need some attention. I do not monitor the boards anymore so if anyone wants any more information you can always feel free to reach out to me. My direct email address is tony (DOT) morgan -AT- nationalnet (DOT) com.

For the record, I am going to assume that you are referring to an $11 credit from Certified Hosting and not NationalNet (as the thread title suggests). I know that at NationalNet we have written about $500,000 worth of credits for this outage. Additionally, I know that Certified Hosting has issued many, many thousands of dollars in credits, as well. My guess (and this is truly only a guess because I do not know anything about your specific account) is that $11 represents an entire month of hosting. If you would like to send me your account number or a ticket number I will be happy to research this further for you and see if I can be of any assistance.

Make no mistake, this outage is totally unacceptable to you and most definitely to me. We work very hard to make sure that these issues cannot happen but sometimes they do and it just mortifies me. I feel even worse for people like RN who were affected long after the two hour outage. Let me also be clear about one other thing, Certified Hosting did nothing wrong in this regard. Certified Hosting pays NationalNet just like every other customer and expects things to be done right. We dropped the ball on Certified Hosting just like we did our other customers. NationalNet owes every Certified Hosting customer an apology just like we do the rest of the NationalNet Family.

DISCLAIMER: Many of you already know that last year I bought Certified Hosting so while I, personally, own both companies they run totally independent other than the colocation contract which was always in place. The team at Certified is exactly the same as it always was and we are committed to the highest level of customer satisfaction available in the shared and virtual hosting space that NationalNet does not operate in.

Again, if anyone has any further questions, comments, or concerns please feel free to email me, directly, and I assure you that I will take your email seriously.

Thanks! Hope everyone enjoys the rest of their weekend!
