I just read that story.

The bill says that you are no longer FORCED to buy coverage for things like maternity if you are a man or an older woman.

The bill is giving people the FREEDOM to CHOOSE what they want in their health insurance plan instead of being forced into a "one-size-fits-all" which is what ObamaCare did.

The bill in Congress doesn't "cover" aromatherapy. Or chemotherapy. Or anything else.

Your insurance policy would be what covers things. Not a bill in Congress. lol

I am a man. I will never need or want maternity insurance for myself. Yet...I have to have it with ObamaCare.
I will never need a gynecologist...yet, I am forced to pay for coverage.

I already had a GREAT insurance plan starting in 2002 that cost me less than $500 a month for a family of four. $3,000 deductible and then EVERYTHING is covered 100%.

Now? That same exact policy for only 3 of us instead of 4 is costing me $1497 a month!!!!!

That is a budget buster and hits right on the 15th of every month.

Can't wait for ObamaCare to be GONE.

not really...maternity/gynecology is needed for practically 100% of the women...18% of women in the USA do not give birth but many women give birth multiple times so it evens out...

testicular cancer is 1% for men...prostate is 1 in 7 men and out of those 1 in 7 more than half are men over 65...

the cost will be passed on to women...fine by me but its not really a great plan...a great plan would involve fundamental changes not just passing shit around...

One is the extortionate prices of drugs and second is the huge cost of "administration". For example my Dr has 3 nurses an assistant a receptionist an accountant and a hospital administrator.
If government can in some way reduce these costs I believe the cost of healthcare will drop.
At the moment we have a system that mimics the prescription system. Dr's treat the symptoms and not the cause. Insurance companies will always make money, if the cost of drugs and administration drop so should the cost of insurance ?

Here's another though, how many of you would take your car to a garage and not get a quote ?

I had a couple of MRIs recently, one at my local Hospital for $900 took an hour, One at a Hospital about 70 miles away much more involved and took 3 hours for $450 ? There is no control over what hospitals or practices charge I should add that these are my costs after insurance.

I agree with this. When I lived in Australia my busy doctor had one receptionist, Hartley any paperwork and quick ring up. Here in the states my doctor has 5 employees, 3 if which are litterally faces in the computer doing paperwork. When I ring out it takes a good 2-3 minutes of clicking through their red tape system to check me out (not their fault) They are drowning in paperwork and regulations. Same routine when I goto get my prescription.
This needs to change.

Obviously, Obamacare has issues. I think the Democrats are now holding out hoping they can regain control of the House and/or Senate in 2018 and the Republicans are going to hope it collapses and the Democrats come crawling to them for help.

Maybe this is for the best. Perhaps, as the problems with Obamacare continue to come forward both sides will see some common sense things they can do to fix them.

All that said, I still think the only real solution is a single payer system and I don't see that happening in the near future.

That is the only solution. Republicans want to dial back the clock to pre-Obamacare, but everyone forgets how consumer friendly the health insurance and pharma industry is.
