Jeep are nice, very reliable. The best comparison I would make with a Jeep is< Its like a Mustang, great fun to drive on weekends, but they get to be a pain in the ass to drive daily. They are a little rough and bumpy

I have a Jeep Wrangler. I'd never drive another kind of car again. Not the greatest for road trips or for storage but it cannot be beat for toughness, reliability, and just plain fucking fun.

I agree with Juicy. I had a 97 Jeep Wrangler with a tricked out overhead speaker console and sub. I had more fun driving in that thing than any other car I have ever owned luxury or otherwise. It's only cool for short periods though.

You definitely need another 'date' car because it's gets really windy and girls are always complaining about "my hair is going to get messed up bla bla bla!"

Not the most comfortable ride but neither is an old Hummer or LandRover. We own a modified 97 TJ. Jeep stands for: just empty every pocket. For show the Rubicon is the best way to go until a modified Jeep parks next to you. Just remember to get the Jeep waive right!

depends on what you want it for, they do suck for day to day transport. i had to wear a sports bra whenever i had to do any extended driving.

pornwolf has an excellent point, i have really long hair and it had to be braided or pinned or i was a mess by the time i got to where i was going.

fun for a play toy though.

Huh? Jeeps are easy to work on and parts are plentiful and cheap. I suppose if you wrecked the transfer case or blew up an engine it would be expensive but otherwise I just don't see it. Plus, Jeeps don't break a lot anyway.

I have had both a Wrangler and a Land Rover Defender D90. I think the Land Rover was by far the better off road vehicle but in the states you cannot buy a New Defender and the old ones are way too expensive.

I had a 1995 Wrangler, that was stripped to the bone in terms of comforts. The guy I got it from was a professional land surveyor. This was my wifes choice as a full time ride for her.

she absolutely loved it, I had the hardest time getting the hardtop off alone without a picnic bench to assist and had to bribe friends with inviting them over, having a great dinner and "hey, would ya mind helping me toss the hardtop on her jeep?", lol.....

We had it 2 years and traded it for a 2002 Jepp liberty limited edition, totally loaded, every available option.

She wants to trade it for a new wrangler. The liberty is nice, but, not rough....

Trucks rule, once you start driving them, you cant go back to cars, I drive a durango R-T into NYC daily, as well as all over the tri state area on the weekends.

Jeeps rule!

We picked up a 93 YJ just to do some off roading here in AZ and it has been a blast. We ended up dropping some extra cash into it to get lifts done so it would have a bit more clearance in the backroads. It has been a blast to play with on the weekends going into the desert to have some fun with friends

Hey Drew, just make sure you get a manual with 6 cylinders. The 4 c's are trash.

Buy a 4 cyl jeep with a Dans 44 and swap in a Mustang 5.0. It fits...Advance Adapters.

Get the right transfer case adapter to fit your jeep. Auto AOD Ford tranny requires different TC adapter, e.g.

Sweet and fun

Jeeps Wranglers are great- the only cars I have ever owned have been Jeeps. But like someone else posted 1.) not to be used as a primary car 2.) only get a 6 cylinder. If you buy a used one don't get a '97. If you check out the Jeep boards you will see that there were too many problems with that year. Mainly the computer system which Jeep should have recalled and fixed....but didn't.

Read your facts and recalls before you post. I believe you are reading about Jeeps in general and not the 97 T.J. A lot of people didn't like that Jeep (Daimler-Chrysler Corporation) changed. However, they did and being a owner of legal owner of that year, I have yet to recieve a recall notice.

Buy a Jeep and be sad or buy a Jeep and make mods and be happy.

I got a good old CJ7, amazing offroad, but you gotta make sure everything is secured in the engine bay... Found out the hard way when after an hour of offroad jumping the battery came loose and touched the engine... followed by a small booooom!... and an expensive tow trip

It'll be a new one if I get it... Will only be used to put around town, and towing a few watercraft.

Gonna roll by tomorrow, and see whats up. =)

Thanks for the input guys.

I had a Jeep Cherokee, and a 2000 Grand Cherokee. The cherokee was fun as shit cause it likes to bounce. The Grand Cherokee is a great luxury SUV. Had no problems with it. My ex rolled it on the I-95, when a Benz in front of her blew a tire, swerved and then hit the back end, and that was its last breath.

Amazingly she survived the rollover which was a triple according to the FHP officers, and barely had a scratch on her. They are solid as a rock.

Mercedes owns Chrylser Jeep so you got the best engineers behind it now.

97+ jeeps have coil over supension, alot better for offroading than any cj7 or cj5 leaf springs, also alot better ride., i have both and prefer my 99 TJ 4.0, but after 15,000 worth of upgrades my cj7 is pretty fun too.
