Different Screen Resolutions? - GoFuckYourself.com

Guys i just got back from GoGoBars party .. had a blast and will post pics later.

Anyhow, while there i checked my site on his PC ... it looked super fucked up!

Tables were squished and nothing was lined up ... stuff that was on a single line on my screen, was on 2 lines on his!

His pc was output to a wide screen TV, which would definately account for it being fucked up, but wouldnt it be stretched and not squished?

Yes.
Don't do your tables in percentage, do them in pixels.

Yep someone else told me that as well, i guess ill recode the page, dropping all the useless shit frontpage add's in there, lol

Anyone have an idea what resolution is more common?

Ill set my monitor to that for design purposes.

Or is there any site you can run your page through and it tells if its compatible with all resolutions?

My traffic is split almost evenly between 1024x768 and 800x600.

Design all your sites to display properly in 800x600 and they'll work fine in 1024x768 as well.

They won't show properly for those 7 guys using 640x480, but fuck 'em.

Wrong. I am on a 17" monitor. And I code my pages to look ok in 800x600, and best at 1024x768
800x600 will soon be dead........

I just purchased a new LCD, and to my disappointment, the only good resolution where the text is sharp, etc. is at 1280x1024 -- It's hard as crap to design in this res.

Ahh ... i used to use EditPlus for my text editing, its like notepad but with colorful highlighting for tags. im kinda used to WYSIWYG now though.

Yes, it's one of the more expensive WYSIWYG-- But as what Eric said, you get what you pay for. This software is packed with features that no other $39.99 software will get you.
