i've played acoustic / electric / bass / drums for 8 years. i've played in a bunch of diff bands.

i listen to a TON of shit. spanish acoustic solos, oldschool hardcore, shit, i even listen to some of jewel's stuff, lmao.

i don't listen to music because other people follow it, i listen to it if i personally like it.

concerning metallica, musically i think their shit is really good, when i learned guitar that is what i learned. just because they turned mainstream and sold out doesn't mean they can't in the future, make a badass album, which is what i hope they've done with st. anger. i liked their old stuff, and i'll like any of their new stuff if they're able to capture the style of their initial albums.

music, is music. as far as their lifestyles and their actions are concerned, i don't give a fuck. i'm in it for the music.

so stop boo-hoo'ing over their shitty attitudes, get over it, if they make a kickass album, its no reason not to like it.

I have noticed some things about this whole Metallica thing.


First is there are true fans that don't shitcan Metallica because they made a few bad desicions. The amount of great music that they made in the past holds so much emotion that dissing Metallica 100 percent would be retarded and hypocritical.

Second would be all the newcomers that couldn't name Cliff Burton or Dave Mustaine as being a part of Metallicas past. These new fans like what they hear but hold on alliegance like the true fans do. They have all been fed a good dose of radio play.

Third are the people that used to be big Metallica fans but now love to bash Metallica on all fronts no matter what they have done in the past, present or future. Most of these people have become close minded towards Metallica due to the Lars/Napster thing and just love a chance to jump on the Diss Metallica Bandwagon.

Fourth are the people that never liked Metallica and never will.

I myself am a true fan of Metallica and I really hope that this new album kics mucho ass, but I do have to say that I agree with galleryseek and the pesonas of Metallica hold no bearing on my love for the fucking best metal that inspired me to play the drums.

"Valley of Misery", if you d/l that, you'd think they were metallica... its like one of their older slow paced songs, reminds me of orion for some reason.. but its actually by a diff band "Holocaust".

wonder if the other mp3's like the chains one is real or not. but, i've read a few more reviews that their shit is back to ride the lightening type of material.
