You guys dont visit any adult tubes? Once I got a ransomware from a popunder and I did had Avast.. since then I'm on ESET.

ESET and Malwarebytes are GREAT! We also run CCleaner regularly to clean out the temp data/cache junk piles.

k0nr4d 02-24-2017 02:54 AM

You will get your money back. Paypal is so fucking one-sided that you can probably buy anything and still get your money back claiming you never made the purchase...

Yeah using malwarebytes as well, but it seems like they do a lot of false-positives..

Horatio Caine 02-24-2017 07:46 AM

BTW, brassmonkey recommends changing passwords. :2 cents:

BestPornBabes 02-28-2017 08:59 PM

Malwarebytes is great too. Yes Paypal can be bad for the seller/receiver....esp if dealing with Virtual items or ebooks//online things. Calling is probably faster an the best route. Anyone check out or use Cylance advanced security?? Sounds really good.

I don't think you were hacked at all.

Scams like this are from the inside.

One of the Pay Pal account reps was simply scanning accounts, looking for accounts with small balances, finding yours and sending your access info to a partner to tap your account.

These small time crimes are usually inside jobs. Pro thieves are not going out of there way to hack and steal your $650.

But, a casual inside thief can steal $200 here, or $500 there... and the money is so small for PayPal, they simply refund the account with very little public investigation.

There are 1000's of employees at Pay Pal and it would be so easy to obtain account info on any level from any employee or an employee contact that has account access.

Most of the Pay Pal positions are outsourced by people who make $ 100 a month, so the temptation and motif are there. $ 650 is a lot of money, but to somebody that works in India, that is a small fortune. Stealing here and there would turn a shitty job into a gold mine.

I think it's an inside job for sure. Pay Pal will send you the money back, I'm sure, and they will launch their own private investigation that you will never know about.

As a seller, I have had this happen on 2 occasions even after being able to provide delivery details. They claimed someone in their neighborhood or apartment complex took the package.

Yeah, they'll side with the buyer 110% of the time, and 200% of the time if the buyer paid with a credit card.

Short update - ~12 hours after my second phone call yesterday I received this:

"Dear Matyas Berenyi,

We've re-reviewed your unauthorised payment claim and we're satisfied that the correct decision was made. We're unable to consider this to be an unauthorised payment.

We understand that this may be frustrating for you, but at this time we can only advise contacting the recipient to try to find a resolution.

Yours sincerely,
Declan
PayPal"

LOL, so I am fucked :D

I don't give a flying fuck, it is Springtime! :)
But lesson learned: NO balance on paypal, when I receive something I withdraw to bank immediately.

On the other hand: Paxum emailed me a few days after the fiasco and they said although they can't reverse the transactions they are giving me back my stolen 55 USD :) Kudos :) :pimp

Bladewire 04-04-2017 11:54 PM

Well, i dont bullshit when i say how Paxum is best :) But this is strange behavior from paypal, as usually they instantly recover funds in case of hacking tho it might be case how they were not able to retrieve funds (receiver withdrawed it instantly) so it was easier for them to say how they cant do anything.

klinton 04-05-2017 04:29 AM

the worst p2p payment system. I hope that they will die and be forgotten soon.
PAYPAL of course.
paxum & payoneer are ok :)

identity theft is rampant lately.

change ur password to much longer ones...increase email / cell notifications on ALL your financial accounts. (credit cards, debit, paypal, etc)

CaptainHowdy 04-05-2017 07:05 AM

really sorry this was the outcome, completely unfair. fuck thieves. props to Paxum for refunding you what you were out there.

:2 cents: on not keeping a balance, anywhere outside a bank account you own and control when can be helped. bolded that in your post above cuz it's something important for anyone reading but hope you know I'm not coming from some spiteful 'serves you right' place in doing so. you're not responsible for peeps who lack the ability to earn decently. just hella important info that I'm glad you decided to post here so emphasized on that level.

utter bullshit though. really sorry

btw you have a really awesome first name
