    GoDaddy Fail

I noticed a few weeks ago that a domain I was interested in was in the redemption period because it was not renewed. Domain was registered at GD.

I still had an old GoDaddy backorder credit left in my GD account from a few years ago so I set up a backorder for the domain.

A couple of days ago I got the notice from GD saying they were going to be trying to grab it. Yesterday I got the 2nd notice saying the same thing.

This evening I get a note from GD saying that the capture had been unsuccessful.

I went and looked up the domain and it appeared to be available so I went to my NameSilo account and registered the domain, no problem.

So back to having a backorder credit sitting at GoDaddy.

Seems like GoDaddy should have been able to capture the drop of a domain that is in their own system.

    Funny shit there.

Wonder what the time difference is or do these domains expire at 0:00 UCT regardless of location of the registrant?

I don't know but I assume they drop whenever the registrar decides that they drop sonce the timeframes published by icann are not exacts.
