I do consider your country as a boring shithole where everything is forbidden and no-no. Actually not only I think so. E.g. Pavel Bure, 'Russian Rocket,' renounces US citizenship - and he's not alone.

Ice hockey player Pavel Bure has renounced US citizenship. Bure said that he had made the decision in 2016, RIA Novosti reports with reference to documents of the US Treasury Department.
"Legally, I refused from the passport a year ago. I was working in the USA and Canada for a long time, but I always said that my home is Moscow, Russia. I have been living in Russia permanently during the recent six years. My whole family live here, so the US passport was no longer needed. I have never thought of myself as a US citizen. I needed the document only for the convenience of working overseas," Bure told Life.

Russia today is a way different to Russia say 20 or even 10 years ago, and Moscow much better than NYC or LA for many reasons. I've been to the States and was very disappointed. Everything I can have and do here, I can't do there.
Your grandpa was a Jew, so he has preferred the USA - ok, that's his choice. I'm a Russian and I prefer Russia. It's a big illusion to think that everybody just dreams to live in the States. Those who wanted have moved already - go to Brighton Beach and you';s see a small Jewish Soviet Union there. They are not Russians. They are Jews and they are Soviet. And the USSR will stay forever in their mentality.
