Assange not ready to be extradited: Chelsea Manning clemency does not meet our "conditions"

WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange was supposedly ready to accept extradition to the United States if President Barack Obama commuted Chelsea Manning?s prison sentence for her role in leaking classified information.

Now that Obama actually went through with commuting Manning?s sentence, however, Assange still isn?t going to turn himself in.

The Hill reports that Barry Pollack, Assange?s U.S.-based attorney, is now claiming that ?Obama?s commutation of Chelsea Manning?s sentence does not meet the conditions of the WikiLeaks head?s offer to be extradited to the United States.?

One major sticking point, Pollack says, is that Manning will not be released until this coming May, whereas Assange wanted her to be released immediately.

However, the original offer posted by WikiLeaks on Twitter only required Obama to grant Manning clemency, and didn?t specify any timetables for her release.

Uhm, why the fuck should Assange come to the US, given the amount of corruption he's exposed about the US government?

Why would he come back at a time when Trump is about to be president; a guy who has once advocated putting to death Snowden?

I'd stay as far the fuck away as possible, and keep exposing the mafia (the state).

Keeping your word means absolutely nothing when you're dealing with the world's largest criminal organization (US).

Not singling you out Bladewire. I'm speaking in general terms here.

It was the Bush administration who pressured Sweden into making Assange a wanted man in the first place. (they were pissed on how he revealed hacked emails that pointed out Bush administration lies)

At that time, Assange was praised to high heavens by the Democrat Party biased media....and HATED by the Republicans.
Back then Assange was letting sunshine in on the dark secrets of our corrupt govt. and was a hero.
Hell, he won several major journalistic awards AND was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize.

But once he had the audacity to shine light on the Democrats? Well, now he's a criminal and a monster and needs to be thrown in prison and SILENCED immediately.

And once upon a time (for all my lifetime)...the Democrats and the Democrat biased media was all about making friends with Russia.
No matter WHAT the Russian govt. did or didn't do.

Seems like only a few years ago that Hillary Clinton made a fool of herself with that stupid big red "reset" button that she handed to the Russian President in front of the cameras. So embarrassing (not the idea, but the stupid red plastic button)

And then in 2012 when President Obama himself was caught on an open mic telling a Russian official to tell "Vladimir" that once the 2012 election was over that he would be more "flexible" to work together with him.

This was all seen as "good" by the Democrat politicians and media.

But now that Pres. Obama's flirting with Putin has been rebuffed and Trump is flirting...OMG!!!
Now, all of a sudden...we need to start a freakin' war with Russia.

Just weird. It's like the world has turned upside down.

A "Republican" (Trump) is acting like what he really is (a Democrat)...but since he has an "R" in front of his name...the Democrats and media hate THE EXACT THINGS THEY RECENTLY STOOD FOR.

And I use the term "stood for" very, very loosely. It's obvious that neither Republicans or Democrat politicians have ANYTHING they really stand for.

They just go the opposite of whatever the other party says or does.

This.. I used to support wikileaks and Assange. I agreed with the idea behind it and supported it. The problem is, it's become very apparent Assange is extremely biased.

He muddied the waters in the US election instead of being non-biased and on many occasions prior to that he's covered Russia's ass while fucking over the US. Sadly, wikileaks can no longer be trusted with Assange at the helm..

Assange acts as a conduit for stolen data and uses that position for power, fame & personal gain. Assange is not an altruistic freedom fighting provider of information.

I saw Assange on Fox news a while back, the same week he was on Bill Maher. He insisted he wasn't partisan then I went to wikileaks to check out the emails and saw all the derogatory Clinton cartoons on the page. Its like, why even lie? I'm sure in the future we'll find that Assange has lied a lot to his followers

I do not recall this... I've always thought that Wikileaks was horrible. Wikileaks hasn't exposed any corruption of the US government, but has hurt our national security more than all other past exposures combined. Not only in the eyes of other countries, but just imagine the damage that Wikileaks did by showing ISIS how we track them and attack them.

I am disappointed that the United States hasn't taken out Julian Assange and all of Wikileaks, no matter what the costs.

Yes, but he's the guy in charge and as long as he's in charge it will be heavily biased.. He did an AMA on Reddit a few days ago and he got hammered extremely hard from lots of people over his obvious bias and all his answers were pretty much skirting around the questions..

I mean look I get it, he doesn't like the US, because the US is after him. The problem, is he's allowed that to negatively affect wikileaks as a organization because he's in a publicity war with the US. Now the problem with that is he's just tossing any old info out there if it's bad for the US and Russia for example is easily taking advantage of that.

A simple example, was during the election he made a very big ordeal about claiming "the Russian govt didn't give him the DNC leaks". He knows damn well the Russian govt wouldn't hand it to him direct, that they would use a 3rd party.

He directly tried to influence public opinion in favor of Trump and against Hillary.. I didn't like Hillary any more than Trump, but that was pretty much the last strand of credibility lost for wikileaks for me.

Assange managed to do what no govt was able to do and that was discredit wikileaks making it a non trusted site.

In November, you can vote for America's next president or its first dictator.
