anyone else getting raped by health insurance?

Just got a letter in the mail saying that Blue Cross had a rate increase. My health insurance (plan B $1000 deductible) just jumped from $480 a month to $621...

This new rate will be affective starting next month.

Anyone have a recomendation on health insurance, thats a whole lot cheaper than $480/621 a month?

I live by the words of my father:
1. Always wear protection
2. Insurance is must - Cars, health
3. financial advisor. Pay someone to look over your assets

Depending on where you live, you could get on Kaisers (http://www.kaiserpermanente.org) small business plan (no underwriting)

or join the Media Alliance union and get insurance (no underwriting) through their broker http://www.media-alliance.org/

Am I glad I don't live in america.
Our national health service may not be the best in the world but its free for all.
Though we do pay 10 (soon 11) per cent of out wages for this luxury.
But unlike the U.S.A your chances of survival are not governed by how rich you are

Health Insurance sucks smegma covered cocks. Atleast here in Aus. I had health insurance until I snapped a ligament. HBA (insurance company) paid $250 of my $1200 surgery bill.

BCBS is NOT cheap, but you get what you pay for. I've had individual policies with them for 7+ years (it was cheaper to get an individual plan for me and my son than to get a family plan). They've ALWAYS paid on time, all the doctors and hospitals that are around me accept the plan, and they have contracts with the doctors/hospitals for cheaper rates and if the doctors/hospitals screw up and don't file correctly or on time, the doctors/hospitals cover it, not the patient.

I do volunteer work for a huge consumer center and the horror stories I hear on a daily basis regarding insurance companies boggles my mind. In four years I've had MAYBE 3 complaints about BCBS and they were resolved quickly or were the patient's fault. You wouldn't believe how many people get dings on their credit reports just because the insurance company screwed up. And if you read them, most of the forms you fill out at the doctors/hospitals state that if insurance doesn't pay, then YOU'RE responsible. Period. So these dings are legally on their credit report, even though it was the insurance company's fault.

Health insurance is one thing I never want to be without, and I'd rather pay more, get more, and know that I'll be taken care of

Canadian health care may be free, but here I can call my doctor and schedule a simple check up appointment and be seen in a few days.

Just be thankful you don't pay worker's comp for a dozen employees. Never had a claim in 10 years of business but the rates go up every year.

thats not true.

any person in this country is promised care, our doctors are SWORN to it.

ive been to the emergency room during some drunken rowdy times and an ambulance ride is just about 500 bucks, total bill well over 1 grand, and I didnt have to pay anything.

I was in college at the time, no insurance, nothing.

dont make it sound so bad.

i have scars from stitches i never even paid for from free surgery in this country.

Unfortunately, it's people who DON'T pay anything for ambulance rides, ER visits, surgery etc. that are one of the main reasons those of us that pay for health insurance keep seeing our premiums rise. Doctors and hospitals have to compensate for bills that aren't paid (the little hospital in my town is close to going out of business because of non-payment from the uninsured), so they raise their rates. Higher rates means the insurance company pays more for those that are insured. They in turn charge the policy holders. Nothing's "free" in life - SOMEONE is paying for it.
