Gallery Script >>> Input Needed!!!
hey guys, i was thinking about creating a dynamic php gallery script and i'd like some info. i'll try to break down some of the different features i'm thinking about right now...
Organization of Content Content will be organized into the main folder, doesn't matter what it's called. Each folder in the "main content folder" will be considered a gallery, and the name of the folder determines the name of the gallery. For example, if the folder was /content/Betty_Sue/, then the gallery would be displayed on the pages as "Betty Sue". Subcategories The script will automatically check the directories for the content for subdirs. If a subdir is present, that will be considered a "sub-gallery". So you can have a gallery page that display thumbs, then at the top it will have links to the sub-galleries. Header/Footer I was thinking it might be best to allow for the user to supply their own headers. First the script will check the directry of the current gallery for a header/footer, and if none is found it will check the "main content dir". Another option I was thinking would be "templates", this would allow for much much more customization among gallery pages. Download Galleries This could be an option in the admin that you can turn on and off. Basically it would zip up all the "big pics" in the galleries and allow them to be downloaded. Thumbnail Generation In the admin you'd be able to see a list of all the galleries on the "main content dir". From here, you will be able to "generate" the galleries, which basically means create the thumbs and .zip(if turned on). For thumbnails there'd be a good deal of options. You could specify a set height & width, or else, you could specify either a set height or a set width and the script would create an "aspect ratio" and size the pics accordingly. Also an option to resize the "big pics" that are larger than a certain hxw. Content Rotation I would like more input on this as to what you guys would want for content rotation. Any input is appreciated. Thanks. Would you personally by a gallery script like this if it fit your needs? Please give me your thoughts, ideas, suggestions, etc, etc, etc. Thanks, -Kev ps: thx to Brujah for input. |

*bump*
Captions Another feature I was thinking of was the ability to add 'captions' to images. I could make it have an option to either use a mysql db for the captions, or else use a flat .txt file. |
