I've been running an online chat bot since 2000. It was mostly just dumb entertainment for the first 10 years, but it turned more serious (and more dirty) after that. It's now intended to be more of a person simulator, rather than "robot chat."
If you're sceptical about chatting with a computer it will never work - you can break the illusion instantly by typing something outlandish and noting that it replies as if what you said was normal - but otherwise, it seems to work quite well. It did over 2 million chats in 2016.
I'm imagining something like this:
Initially, there's simple visual augmentation of the camgirl. Want the nipple a bit larger and a slightly different shade? A different eye or hair colour? The curve of the breast a little larger or smaller? More or less pubic hair? Software running somewhere between the webcam and the customer's screen changes the vision appropriately. This could do really well with fetishy customers that have slightly odd tastes, like excessive body hair, or wanting girls with pink hair.
Perhaps the same augmentation could be done, to a lesser extent, with the sound.
Now the beauty of this is that as well as changing the source material to suit the customer's desires, the system also learns about how to change it, and through supervised and unsupervised learning, becomes better and better at it. The system also learns how girls move, what they do, etc. At some point, the system becomes sophisticated enough that it's replacing a large number of pixels, almost drawing the camgirl from scratch in a totally realistic way........and then one day, it will.

How much do you think people will pay to chat once the figure out it's a bot. I think it might be good for the 3rd world > make them pay 3 rupees a min. It's a low cost novelty. Maybe, an interesting brand builder, a lead robot but definitely not a profit center.Comment

See my sentence above about being sceptical. Based on my experience, a person thinking "pfft this is a robot" is more likely to be the exception, rather than the rule. For most people, especially those that are horny and looking for a fix, close enough may be good enough.
My chat bot has the word "bot" in its domain name, and has a picture of a robot on every page, yet phrases like "i just came" or "i just orgasmed" get entered by users several times per day. It also gets asked if it is a real person.Comment
