I use the laptop, not that I do anymore design work.. What's better about the Intel is that you can duel boot into windows/linux/unix(freebsd).. Apple has a unix term since its based on freebsd.. but it has some major variations.
Other then that, I love it.. 1600x1200 ultra vga screen blows me away every time. And San Francisco has wireless dsl in most places so you can connect from almost anywhere. |

I've got an old G3 Powerbook. It's running OSX with a small HD, so it's bascially an on the road Internet Machine, that cost $3200 at one point.

Depends if you need something that is usable from home and office, if so then a good laptop with desktop like features will do just fine (great for traveling too). If you want a permanent station then a desktop is a better/more efficient choice. Both have advantages and disadvantages so try to see which ones in your case outweigh the other and then go with it. :2 cents:
