Texas university says that "holiday" is not politically correct enough replacement for "Christmas"

'Holiday Parties' instead of 'Christmas Parties' isn't PC enough university warns in unintentionally hilarious party guide - The Rebel

"University says using "Holiday" instead of "Christmas" is not politically correct enough
    December 14, 2016
    Paul Joseph Watson

Texas Woman's University has warned students that describing Christmas parties as "Holiday" parties is now not politically correct enough and may offend Muslims, suggesting that the term "end of semester party" be used instead.

According to an advisory which described tips for an "all-inclusive, multicultural holiday party at the office," describing Christmas as a "holiday" is not longer multicultural enough because, "Not all faith traditions have holidays in December, and not everyone identifies with a particular faith tradition."

Mark Kessler, professor of multicultural women's and gender studies, says that in order to avoid "missteps" that might offend Muslims, Jews or atheists, party planners should refrain from using the word "holiday" because it "connotes religious tradition and may not apply to all employees."

The use of "religious symbolism, such as images of Santa Claus, evergreen trees, or red-nosed reindeer" is also discouraged, as is "red and green sugar cookies shaped like Christmas trees." Halal or kosher food should be offered to meet the "requirements of non-majority groups in your organization." Music "associated with a faith tradition, such as Christmas carols," is also discouraged, with a "multicultural playlist that reflects all faith traditions" preferred.

Parties scheduled for December should be renamed "end of semester" parties or "end of fiscal year" parties. Meanwhile, over in Italy, a priest has announced that there will be no nativity scene at a local cemetery because it might offend Muslims and atheists.
Every year, leftists claim that the "war on Christmas" isn't a thing, and every year they are proven wrong. Now even the politically correct neutral term "holiday" is not politically correct enough, proving once again that PC control freaks are censoring language in the name of cultural sensitivity. President elect Donald Trump isn't buying it. During a stop on his "thank you" tour in Wisconsin yesterday, Trump urged everyone to say "Merry Christmas" - with no regrets."

Goto the mall, grocery store, Amazon, Target, Wal-Mart etc. See the Christmas specials on every channel all month. Christmas is alive and well in America, always has been.

Best I can tell the school is just protecting itself from lawsuits - it is a publicly funded school as are quite a few colleges in Tx...and both state and Federal law would allow someone with enough money to sue if the felt "offended"...Not agreeing or disagreeing - just the underlying facts

The displays in stores, malls etc is definitely within the law as they are privately owned entities and can therefore do whatever the heck they want

And I can tell you from experience it is not lefties or libs that are doing this - it's people that like to run tort lawsuits for a living - similar to all the advertising out there these days for lawsuits against drug companies - a very rampant problem but not a political one by any means

It's Christmas. There is no discussion about it.

Some people celebrate Hanukkah or kwanzaa or what not and I am not offended. In the United States we celebrate Christmas. It's a national holiday here. If you do not like it or are offended by it, you can move.

I celebrate Festivus this time of the year. Oh what fun; airing of grievances, feats of strength, and this year, a gold festivus pole. Festivus miracles to you all.

Sorry but unless we can go to a foreign country and celebrate christmas saying that their symbols etc. are offensive and they should change them... well we wouldn't get much luck. There are too many special interest groups that won't be happy with anything traditional and would prefer to change it all.

Santa Claus - reindeer etc. who cares - it's for kids. You don't like it then move to another country. 10 years ago it's take Christ out of Christmas - now let's take Santa out of Christmas - now .. well let's take Christmas out of Christmas.

It's really getting silly when a small group dictate to a larger group how things should be. I love the holidays - the decorations and old style TV movies from Snoopy to A Christmas Carol. I'm sure by this time next year they'll want to ban all radio play of songs

I agree. I don't know about Canada, but in America there probably more (by population) non Christians like me, than Christians, who will fight to keep Christmas around. Taking Christmas out of America is like taking 4th of July out of America, not gonna happen.

Nico-T made a thread yesterday about a school in a town in the Netherlands changing Christmas Dinner to winter dinner so as not to offend others. I'd revolt against that.

removing prayer from schools is reasonable, removing all mentions of any traditions or belief systems is more poisonous than it is neutral and serves no one.

what's kinda ironic is that when it comes to minorities, their traditions, belief systems, prayer, etc are completely acceptable... I mean, if Muslim would make a scene by praying before an exam, no one would dare to point out that it might not be appropriate, cause we wouldn't dare to offend anyone like that... the school might get sued, or some violence could result...
