ISIS seizes Syrian and Russian equipment retaking Palmyra

The source of this video was ISIS so what is seen?

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/...=.69e0d05fc920

[T]he Islamic State?s conquest of Palmyra appears to have netted the group a trove of weaponry, armor, ammunition and equipment that risks fueling a surge of gains by the militants in Syria at a time when attention has been diverted on the battle unfolding in Aleppo.

Palmyra?s fall comes less than a year after Syrian government forces, along with Iranian-backed militias and Russian Special Operations troops, retook the city from the Islamic State. The group seized the city in 2014, partially destroying a number of its world-renowned archaeological sites.

The recent militant offensive drove Syrian government troops almost completely from the city on Sunday. The Islamic State-linked news agency Amaq later posted images of Syrian and Russian equipment left behind by the retreating troops. One video shows the remains of a Russian forward operating base that had been established after the city was first retaken in March and was used to help with demining efforts there. ...
    The article further says:

Following the city?s fall, Amaq claimed that the Islamic State seized upward of 20 tanks, a handful of armored personnel carriers, howitzers and antitank guided missiles. Some of the claims in the video may have been fabricated for propaganda purposes, but given the speed of the offensive, it is likely the group has accumulated some material.
Bottom line: the Syrian Army could not hold their positions against a rag-tag, but dedicated, ISIS assault.

    Russia's RT response:
ISIS seized weapons in Palmyra, US might strike them if Russia doesn?t ? US general
    https://www.rt.com/usa/370310-isis-p...end-coalition/

[?I] expect that the Russians and the regime will address it here in short order,? Townsend said, referring to the Syrian government. ?They lost it, it?s up to them to take it back.?

Syrian President Bashar Assad accused the US-led coalition of turning a blind eye to the terrorists? major offensive.

?This is the response to what's happening in Aleppo, the advancement of the Syrian Arab Army, and they wanted to make this... or let's say, to undermine the victory in Aleppo,? Assad told RT.

?We liberated Palmyra before, we will liberate it once again. This is war, sometimes you win and sometimes you lose,? Assad told Rossiya 24 television on Wednesday. ...
Hey Ass-ad where were your Russian buddies?

It's not a coincidence that this is happening as Trump takes power.

I am disappointed the US government isn't taking action on this. I have a feeling when Trump takes office this will be discussed more. Trump is friends with Russia - obviously - and he should be able to quickly fix this. Right?

Are they the right kind of Muslims to do that?

Islam is a fractured religion. The wars between them are based on what sect people are or the rulers are and who has profitable oil to take.

its always amusing to see americans say somebody else is arming terrorists america is the founder, patron and creator of most terror organizations in the world and even americans know this...if america really wanted ISIS gone it would do it in 2 weeks like with iraq...but it does not

now go back to blaming putin its hilarious

The mission of the US always was to overthrow Assad. You can just tell they want as little to do with ISIS as possible, but enough to say "look we're also fighting them". ISIS is not their priority at all. That the Syrian army is now fighting ISIS with Russia is a thorn in their side, because that wasn't part of the plan...

If they came at a crossroad: Left is killing Assad and leave ISIS kill everyone and expand, right is killing ISIS and leave Assad in power. The establishment would order the first option every time, no matter how big ISIS would be.

When Mosul was overrun and the Iraqi army hastily retreated, ISIS captured US supplied weapons to the Iraqi government -- you were doing a happy dance crucifissio.

The Islamic Terrorist State is alive and well in spite of what the Tass clones and the western media is saying. The Viet Cong were the same way -- different cause but dedicated to their deaths if need be. They fight for an idea -- that is a very difficult thing to destroy. ISIS terrorizes the civilian population just like the VC did in Vietnam.

This is not about religion, if you believe that you are just buying the dogma bullshit -- this is about control and monetary gain of one group over another.

Russia and the US have no ideology. Russia fights to keep their military bases in Syria and the US fights to control their and their world's oil flow.

This war has gone on longer than than Vietnam War -- perhaps at lower intensity however the locals have really had heavy losses.
