Black Pete, only a few % against it and call it racism. They got a lot of airplay by the so called left wing tv stations that always must take care of the hurting of minority feelings. Cause they couldn't win the discussion they started protest at children party's to ruin the tradition with protest and get more attention. And ofcourse, they got more hate from people that like Black Pete. (action - reaction).
The whole discussion gave the right wing politician Geert Wilders at least 6 extra votes, cause people have enough being called racist even by the UN. And also some new-dutchman started their own political party saying everyone is racist and a former slave owner and islamofobic White must be reminded of how bad black people it had in history, islam is good and also for feminist etcetra. But they never picked cotton, i never owned a slave.
Next, all statues, street names, school names and every name that is connected with the VOC must be changed. After Black Pete, wiping out VOC history as something that was only bad. And than the next issue will be paying money for slavery or so. And what will be next? Maybe forbid names of people like "Piet" cause it could be a VOC captain 300 years ago.
And than the politicians wonder why a lot of people in Holland have enough of the EU telling them what to do and immigration problems.
And Holland is a little like the usa in small. The people against Zwarte Piet live in the Randstad (big cities like amsterdam, The Hague, Rotterdam) while in the rest of Holland just say fuck you to them. If they don't get threatened and put under pressure.

The black pete discussion is everywhere the last 5 years. Ofcourse Black Pete changes. He used to scare people 50 years ago, now he is the one that is happy and make everyone smile.
Even some supermarkets banned Black Pete. No more pictures of black Pete. It is not forbidden, but they want all the customers. That with the cartoons on candy's is a different discussion. That is to prevent children crying and screaming for candy in the supermarket cause it is marketed with popluar cartoons. Or maybe they do it cause than the have a reason to ban Black Pete also.
But you hear hardly anyone about animals rights and how kosher and halal rituals conflict with the European norm and sold in the same supermarkets. And that is sold everywhere. But when people start against Dutch traditions, more people will stand up to those traditions as well. It divides everything and all people get less tolerant. And yes, George Soros is funding a lot. But also they get money from our government to inform people that black pete is racist.
It used to be a children party, now you see police everywhere. And at demonstrations they are also in favor of Palestina, against dutch King, bla bla.
I didn't watch that Krampus video cause it is just propaganda.

I think when you try to alter core traditions in a society you shake people to the core. I think renaming things and trying to erase history & tradition is wrong and people should fight this to the death, I would. I think all of our countries and traditions & flaws make us uniqe, as do our successes and failures. Working together to prosper & for the good of the world is the right thing to do. Trying to make us all the same culture & beliefs is wrong, except for basic human rights.

Yes. And it was a first stop after a long journey. So the sick slaves get offboard there and the strongest went further. I lived some time on Bonaire and i must say, it looked like South Africa.
