91,218 www.rexmag.com - how is this thign calculated anyway cause www.rexmag.com gets like 30 k a day and is 91k in aleax where as www.gamedorks.com gets 200 a day and is 81k...does that make sense?

alexa doesnt do that good of results. one of my sites gets 300 hits per day, ranked 110,000 on alexa, my other site which is a very popular typein gets 2000 hits per day and its ranked 130,000 on alexa

look at the rankings of major sites, or sites that you KNOW are popular, and you'll find that you get about the results you'd expect.

Rank is based on surfers with Alexa toolbars in their browsers. Since webmasters use those more often (for info on competitor sites and such), gfy is most likely way overrated in there.

Alexa ranking can be easily manipulated. Just install Alexa on your box, and set your site to your home page, and all of your own views to your site will push your rank up.
If several GFY members added alexa, GFY would probably soon rank pretty fucking high. Don't mean nothin.

Alexa's ranking system is just like Google's PageRank system, corrupt and biased. The system is flawed, with statistics that may or may not be true, they're definitely not consistent enough all of the time. |
