This is turning into the most expensive and tragic comedy skit ever produced in the history of Saturday Night Live.
Now more than ever you can see that the Iraqi people needed to be liberated from these nincompoops. ************************************************** BAGHDAD, Iraq ? With U.S. tanks rolling into central Baghdad, Iraq's information minister denied in a rooftop news conference Monday that the Americans were in the city, declaring: "Be assured Baghdad is safe, secure and great." "They are sick in their minds. They say they brought 65 tanks into center of city. I say to you this talk is not true. This is part of their sick mind," Mohammed Saeed al-Sahhaf said. "There is no presence of American infidels in the city of Baghdad at all." Sahhaf, speaking outside the Palestine Hotel to a crowd of foreign reporters, said amid sirens and clouds of dust that Saddam Hussein's forces had given invading coalition forces "poison and bitterness." "Their forces committed suicide by the hundreds. ... The battle is very fierce and God made us victorious. The fighting continues," he said. "Yesterday, we slaughtered them and we will continue to slaughter them." Sahhaf said coalition forces pushed one of the armored carriers and tanks into the city and "we killed most of them and we will get of rid of them soon. Baghdad will be their graveyard." Reacting to reports that the U.N. Security Council was to meet Monday, he called on the United Nations to denounce the war "before the United Nations becomes a place for prostitution under the feet of the Americans."

If the Iraqis admit that the coalition forces are in the city their fighters will lose the stomach to fight.........but on the bright side, they think "Chemical Ali" is dead

I love listening to that guy. A US tank could be passing by right behind him and he'll still be saying that they are nowhere close to bagdad. LOL

Mutt, I remember US Army spokeperson saying the the US Army was in the center of Baghdad like a week ago or so. And then there was this report from Reuters agency a little bit later saying that its reporter was going through the city center over and over without spotting one US soldier. Obviously, you can't blindly believe everything you hear from either side.

You know what it is, the guys under this guy are afraid to tell him the reality for fear they'll be executed for fucking up, and the minister is afraid to tell the guys above him the reality for fear he'll get executed.
For all we know Saddam is in a bunker still thinking he's winning. Who in their right mind would want to be the one to go in and tell Saddam the bad news. The put their olympic team in the torture chamber when they lost, so imagine what officers get when they lose. ![]() |

Petr yes i know that the United States and all countries in war lie, distort facts etc for propaganda reasons but these guys are just so hopelessly inept at it. There really are no shades of grey in this war, America has pummelled them. There have been more American and Brits killed by friendly fire than the Iraqis.
And the relatively few non friendly fire casualties came from suicide terrorists who aren't even part of Hussein's military. As things get worse for them it's becoming more and more like Monty Python or Saturday Night Live. They could drive an Abrams tank through the wall of that studio while he is in the middle of telling the world that Iraq has declared victory. The Emperor's New Clothes - a children's fable. These people live their lives according to a children's fable - the Koran. That's the danger of religious fundamentalists, theirs, ours, all of them, anybody who takes the Bible or the Koran literally is a danger to the rest of us.

Every time I read a report about a new press conference by the Iraqi Information Ministry, this pops into my head:
![]() I fully expect him to be broadcasting some lame propoganda about how the Americans are nowhere to be seen, and three U.S. Marines suddenly appear at his side...the Benny Hill theme starts and they chase him off camera. |

Hehehe... does make me wonder if Saddam does know what is going on...
"Sure boss, we are kicking their ass! I um.... have to go and tan or something.." Wouldn't want to be the one he blames for losing the war. |
