    Real news

I was reading about Bannon and he said one of the strengths of his tactics was that the news people are too busy to do any depth. So he would provide that even if it was wrong. It would be interesting if we as a nation started to only watch news that was real or someone rich agreed to produce real news.

I hate that I have to research any interesting news clip to see if it is even remotely real or just some made up thing.

"Fake news" is becoming a huge problem for society. It's not only politics.

There was a time when you had to be smart to get online. Back then not only did you have to build your computer, but also add a modem in, subscribe to a service, and then navigate the Internet - which was difficult back then. We didn't have Google back then.

Now anyone with a complete lack of common sense gets on line and posts pure bullshit. Again, it's not only politics. People post up stupid stuff that a four second Google search clearly and quickly disproves. In some cases, I am noticing that when people post up nonsense Facebook puts up links to an article on snopes proving it to be fake.

It's only a matter of time before people and companies start filing lawsuits if they haven't already. If you post up something about a product that is false and it damages sales, they can and should go after you.

I think all news has a bias.
Americans, for that matter the entire free world, are very biased these days -- one way or another. In some places dissent is not tolerated.
The Internet has made the 5 second article attention span of the public a reality.
Twitter has made the 140 character statement a "gold standard" for disinformation
YouTube will always have something to back your position right or wrong.

When I see the same point made by sources of opposing bias -- there may be proof.
I think you can never prove this point by research -- opinions are like assholes -- everyone has one

I've been around for a long time having lived through the 60s and participating in the both some of the crazyness of Haight-Ashbury and later being in France for the Paris riots.

I have never seen the world so polorized!

Things are far worse today than they were in my day. Everything from racism to ignorance has evolved in a way that they believe themselves to be opposite of what they really are. So that the racist believes he's not racist and the ignorant believe themselves to be highly intelligent, etc.
officially retired as of March 01 2018 but still fucking around and getting into shit.

yes, this annoys me as many people post fake news on facebook and then go on about it, until some one says, this is fake, then it drops.

I notice this also with affiliates now with fake password sites. They direct the traffic to the site with a fake password, it doesn't work, so 1-1000 probably join anyway using the aff link that was used to send the traffic to the site. I find this annoying because it creates more people wanting fake passwords, so the real password sites have more people asking for more passwords.

As someone who ran Breitbart.com, I'd love to see what he calls "depth". He lives in a fantasy world.

I can't believe this racist piece of shit is going to be working in the White House advising the president of the United States -- who is by the way a fucking buffoon.

real news died a long time ago, before tv and internet...the only thing that has changed is that more people are not capable of "reporting shit"...

Post-truth (or in its classic word: bullshit) is the perfect soil for fake news. it will go away soon, like any other fad. I'd give it 2-3 years.
