    trump must have the balls to execute the nuclear option

    eliminate the filibuster in the senate, once & for all.

    if he doesn't do it, dems are going to do to trump what GOP did to obama for 8 years. blind obstruction.

    its not in the constitution. just a dumb senate rule, they can simply delete it with 51 votes.

          The democrats changed the Senate rules to enact what they call "The Nuclear Option." This allows the Senate to approve (or disapprove) cabinet and judicial nominees with a simple majority vote of 51. Normally, it takes 60 votes to approve a nominee.

          When Trump takes office the republicans will only have a 51 to 49 advantage in the Senate so the Democrats likely will do some filibustering of nominees. The Senate Republicans can use this option to get around it.

          The potential downside is that if one party uses it, especially if they use it regularly, there likely will come a time when they are the minority party and they can then expect to have it used against them.

              The GOP already got rid of the filibuster for nominees.

              But im talking about everything. All bills. 51 votes to pass.

              Just like 1791. There is no filibuster in the constitution. & today, its used only for obstruction, not for making deals like in previous eras.

              It needs to be gone, or nothing will get done, or bills will be watered down to failures. This is exactly what happened to obamacare. Had to scrap big parts that couldnt get 60 votes.

              Get rid of it. Totally.

                          Let me get this right - a function of your government was used to thwart a democratically elected president from passing laws. That was ok though because he was not your choice of president.

                          Now, when your guy in in the hot seat, you think that the same functions should be scrapped and your guy should have free reign to do whatever the fuck he likes.

                          And for the sake of clarity this is a guy that lied, bullied, and slandered his way into the top job. Cheered on by far right groups and political parties around the world ?

                          A guy that was happy to treat the office of president with utter contempt, and a guy who brought the fairness of the whole democratic procedure into doubt. A guy who refused say whether or not he would actually accept the result should he lose.

                          You actually think the normal checks and balances which are in place should be removed for this guy ?

                              I was no fan of obamacare being mutilated by the filibuster. It had its purpose in a less hostile politics. Today its holding back agendas.

                              Its not a check & balance from the constitution. Im tired of having to educate you on basic facts. Such as the right wing cheering trump? They opposed him you dummy!

                                          Well said.

                                          There are people whose family and friends are afraid they're going to be rounded up and shipped out of the country because of their citizenship status or religion, because of what Trump said to win the election. After winning the office Trump has remained silent, except to complain about the protesters on twitter and accused them of being paid for by the media.

                                          This election has shown that all norms are out the window, that includes a Trump presidency and peaceful transition of power, power that the majority of Americans voted for another candidate to have, not Trump.
