E-Mail List Brokering about to be a fucked up biz?

Did anyone see the new regs some of the major sponsors are issuing about e-mail lists? Looks like you either can only do mailers to your own list or if you acquire a list it has to be exclusively bought for your use only. This will have a big impact on list reselling.

What they are saying is you can't do a mailing campaign using any e-mail list that isn't originated from your own databases or if you acquire one outside of your own, it has to be sold to you for your exclusive use only. This would effectively end list sharing, renting, selling, etc.

If they're against list selling in the same way they've been against spam, it shouldn't be much of a problem.

This is the stupidest thing I've ever heard. It's the sponsors that are doing most of the trading and brokering of the spam lists...LMAO...
