Rocky Horror Picture Show (2016 Version)

Just seen it on TV in the UK. What an utter disappointment...

It couldn't possibly be anything else but a disappointment. The way I see it...if a classic ain't broke, don't fix it.

wasn't that some musical about trannies to begin with? Sounds horrible.

Yeah, but if you really have not seen it, give it a go... (1975 Version of course) Its really about being yourself and feeling free to express yourself

Well actually, without reading any prior reviews, I did expect something much better based on the very start.

It was great to see the theater usher character singing the opening theme instead of just the lips and then having the 'cinema' brought into it was interesting. They could have used that to show all the audience interactions that take place at live screenings bit only showed a couple. I knew I wasn't going to like the recasting of Frank, however I felt that without it being an actual bloke in the role, it lost something... Yes I am aware that the girl is a real life transexual but thats beside the point...

I just felt that with an obviously better budget, they could have done a really good tribute to the 75 movie and the stage play with a 'nod and wink' to the fans through out... But alas, no such luck...

I had no problem with the rearrangement musically of some of the songs (Why Not) but in all I was just dissapointed... I am currently now watching the original again, to make myself feel better

As someone who's seen the original 37 times in the theater during the 70s and multiple times after that on DVD I was deeply disappointed much less had a tear in my eye when I saw they dragged Tim Curry from the seniors home (probably promised him the chance to feed the ducks at a park) - just to humiliate him by reading some lines.

I tried - really tried to like it - but the feeling wasn't there. The actors never understood what the generation was like or how to portray the characters properly. I deleted it from the PVR quickly.

We watch Rocky Horror every year on Halloween, have for decades. I used to go when I was in high school.

The only god part about this TV version was Victoria Justice walking around in her bra.

I'm not going to even try and watch it - What ever they did they couldn't recapture the vibe of the original...

They could not find any cross dressers with really, really lush lips so they chose an actual transexual which, did.

Dude that's not cool. Tum Curry had a major Stroke that put him in a wheel chair and makes it hard for him to speak. RHPS is an iconic movie that would never have been the same without Curry. You know he was happy to be there, and you know all the producers, actors and everyone else was happy he was there too. Come on man..

This version was like they gave an adequate shadowcast a budget and let them make something for their friends.

Having said that, as a former Magenta for many, many performances... this version is an abomination. Except for Ben Effing Vereen. And it's sad to watch how Tim Curry's health has degraded.

Plus the whole theatre-watching-the-show pan-outs? What is it, the Rocky Horror Inception Show? Bah. But then, Fox pooped on RHPS with Glee. I don't know why anyone thought this would be any different.

If you want to see an amazing version, check out the live Rocky Horror Show that BBC did last year! It's utterly fantastic.

^^^really well said. a remake isn't sacrilege if it adds new ideas/perspectives to the original. from what I've read there's none of that where this redux is concerned

I won't watch it, didn't watch the remake of Hairspray for the same reason
