Rant Does every website now have these fucking annoying email collection pop-up boxes?

Fucking hell, it seems that EVERY website now has these email pop-ups in the middle of the screen.

I don't get the point of them. Do people actually submit their emails?

The last thing i want is when i'm looking for something in google, click through to a website and get slammed in the face with a fucking notification popup that is completely irrelevant to what i'm looking for. Pisses me the fuck off.

Does anyone else hate these things?

I hate them shits with a passion. Especially the ones that delay until you halfway through a story to pop up. I say fuck it and X out.

      Yeah, same here.

Why the hell every website have them? Is it just a sheep move on part of webmasters? One idiot sees other idiots do it, so he follows suit?

It's hard for me to believe that people submit their info into these things.

I'm not a fan of them either but I do know the power of having a targeted email list built up over the years as it's basically a license to print money. Most of the email marketing companies all handing those out now so probably why seeing more of them.

It just pisses your customers off. I wouldn't buy shit from a site that uses it, i'd make it a point to go buy someplace else.

Email is where it's at. Our industry is all about information now. Why would you want a single click when you collect someone's email address and send to them over and over again, generating dozens, hundreds, or even thousands of hits off of one single bit of information.

If anyone is interested in YNOT Mail, let me know and I'll gladly get on Skype or the phone with you.

In my limited testing with them over a year ago sign up rate increased but I found more activity from users that just clicked "Join our Newsletter" link instead of pop-up in da face as it forces some that aren't that interested to sign up. So I think they lead to more sign ups but less targeted. Limited testing opinion.

There are options to delay them so many seconds before opening and to limit 1 pop-up per 30 days but most probably don't go into advance settings so even more annoying.

Very Annoying but just about all sites have them accept major chains I haven't seen them on.

Yeah. Some assholes try to hide too, making it ridiculously small or making it blend with background.

What's really annoying is the popups still pop up after you've given them your email address... this happens with several sites I check regularly. Is there no way to not display the pop up if the surfer has already given their email address?

They work and they work well. Especially in generating leads and possible prospects. That's why companies - especially marketing ones - continue to use them. Once you put in your
e-mail it gets funnelled into mailchimp or other email automation software

It is quite common in the mainstream.

I hate them. I close them right away. If I like the site I'm visiting and want to sign up, THEN I will sign up, not before.
