Evan McMullin is an independent candidate who is only on the ballot in about 10 states, but Utah is one of those states. He is a Mormon and the Mormons aren't took keen on either Trump or Hillary so he has a lot of support in that state. He is currently polling at 29% in Utah with Trump at 30% and Hillary at 25%.

He has a real chance of winning Utah which could screw Trump, but could also cause chaos.

[H]is choice of a woman as his running mate, Republican campaign strategist Mindy Finn, is just one part of his campaign that has endeared him to Utah voters, especially young Mormons, Cann said.

“People tend to have a higher level of social trust for people who are in the same group,” Cann said. “LDS people find Evan McMullin to be trustworthy on the account he shares their religious identification.”

McMullin downplays the role his religion is playing in his ascent.
