Daily mirror are idiots calling it a "death ray". It's just some electronic warfare for disabling the enemy tectonics and hiding ours from their systems by mans of electronic jamming - nothing revolutionary. And course it doesn't kill anybody, but it can jam your mobile for example ;)

Won't work in the real life. As SDI tests have shown, even in the outer space lasers are very ineffective. In the atmosphere they are quite useless as a weapon. An old good missile is 100x times cheaper and 100x times more effective - it can operate far outside of the visual range, it doesn't care if there is a smoke, steam or something else on its way, it doesn't need electricity etc...
