Will you still promote paycut sponsors "just because"?

Will you be loyal to these programs and take the hit, or will you drop them?

My feeling is that sponsors lowering payouts because they can't do shady business anymore, well, boo fucking hoo.

I'll go promote someone who's got the talent to run sites that sell without scamming in any way, and as a result can offer good payouts.

I think it really says something when a sponsor basically tells you, sorry, we've got to cut your pay because we are unable to conduct straight business.

Isn't it about sending your traffic to sponsors with the most talent at converting? These guys are basically telling us they suck at that if they can't use questionable methods.

Do you really think the chargebacks are caused by shady business moreso than idiots who sign up and get scared of their wives or something? I really don't know the answer, but my guess is that many of the chargebacks are the customers' faults.

Possibly, but I know of two companies that have been running non-recurring paysites for years and I've seen the kind of money they throw around so I know it's possible to still do well going that route.

I've thought about that before, but that would mean all these chargebacks are coming from husbands who've been caught red handed. Realistically, how often does that happen? And how does the wife know it's porn when it doesn't show up on the CC statement as such? So if you believe the blunt of chargebacks comes from busted husbands, then you must believe this happens:

            Wife: What's this $30 charge to ibill.com?

Husband: Hmm... iBill.com? The only $30 charge I made online was to College Fuck Fest. It's a porn site featuring videos of young college kids fucking at parties.

Signup forms state they'll be billed discreetly. So there's no fear for husbands there. And even if they have regrets after signing up concerning the wife, they can't report the card as stolen until after the statement arrives and they discover this "theft".

Then the CC statement arrives and it doesn't actually give the website name, so that's not giving the husband up.

So where in the process is the wife finding out? And I don't think people are as quick to do a "I bought it, but want it free" chargeback as webmasters may think. Reporting a card as stolen means you've got to have the card canceled on the spot, and days later you get a new one. Big pain for most people.

The wife finding out is just an example. I guess I'm just mostly curious if people are charging back unethically for whatever reason. Like, they just wanted to get in and download some shit and jerk off real quick, but didn't ever want to pay, or whatever. Or maybe they just forget to cancel, and instead of sucking it up and being ethical, they charge back, or who knows what. Whatever the reason, I guess it doesn't really matter, because we can't change what the surfer does...

I think CBs come from busted husbands,
people who just don't want to pay, and to
a smaller extent scammer (typically non-US).
A very small percent come from people
who didn't like what they bought... so how
to stop them from CB? 1. teach hubbies
how to use their own darn cards, 2. lower
                prices for "basic" services

I know of a few too. You are correct sir.

Hard to lay blame on any one party for why things are the way they are. There are good and bad on all sides.... the paysites, the affiliate webmasters, and the surfers. No sense laying blame, just do like always.... go find a sponsor that you can convert, and convert the fuck out of it, no matter what they pay. Look at bangbus almost 2 years ago.... Other sponsors were offering $40 per signup, or $20 to $30 recurring (or more), and bangbus (oxcash) was paying a meager $12.49 per recurring. But I knew I could sell it, so I went with bangbus, and sold 100 signups a month for many months. Made a fortune on rebills, STILL getting rebills from that.

As long as there are good pay sites to sell, payout reductions really don't affect the smart webmaster who knows where to send his own traffic.

I will continue to promote ARS. I convert them very well and it will still be worth it for me to use them, even at a lower payout.

Come on dude! Think about it.

Yeah I support the sponsors I use if they cut there payouts. As long as they convert then that's what it's about. Also lowering what the customer is changed means more sign ups.

In the end you will make more because the volume of sales and sign ups will increase.

Way back in the beginning, when card processing software on the Net was still getting the kinks worked out, we decided it was better to get a good handle on everything, so we used our own merchant account, and hand processed the transactions and dealt with every customer service call ourselves.

Most every call related to a chargeback was a wife on the phone saying there was a charge on her card statement and she wanted to know what it was and who authorized it. Personally I think a LOT of woman check their husbands card statements to make sure he isn't playing around on the side. They look for restaurant names that are unfamiliar, gifts, flowers, etc.

I know my father played around quite a bit and my mother would always nail him by going through his cc statements. So I think more women than you think do this obsessively every month.

The next biggest area of chargeback problem was stolen card numbers. You could tell real quick after a while who was honestly saying a DAK (denies all knowledge) and who was not. I think a lot of geeks were using card generators or hacked customer databases since security was horrible back then online to procure valid numbers to use.

The biggest question for me is that with lower payout and the disposal of webmasters with high chargeback rates, will the shaving stop?
