What would make you buy another BlackBerry phone?
We had a discussion on a BlackBerry related forum about BlackBerry phones and what could have been done to keep their (phone) hardware department alive now they decided to close it. I would really like to here opinion of general public (you) what do you really think about the brand itself and under what circumistances would you (if ever?) consider using another BlackBerry phone (BB OS, BB10 or Android, doesn't matter). For me personally, BB10 was the greatest mobile OS ever developed, and can not leave without a phone with a hardware keyboard, but do not let this affect your opinion. I know for most of people out there they are long gone and forgoten, but in any case, I wanted to hear to your opinion and last verdict. Just be completely straight forward and honest.

Unless that BB android came for free, nothing would make me come back. Honestly BB were pioneers in smart phone tech once, but that time has passed. Samsung and Apple have made Blackberries a technological relic IMO

they already have the passport which is enough for me to switch., but i hear not all android apps are compatible on it.
they should make pure android phones with qwerty keyboard. just like bb passport. may be they already did that, i dont know.

Since BB10 is dead, Blackberry is now only designing Android phones (and outsourcing construction) while tweaking the code to make their phones "more secure."
That said, I might buy a Blackberry designed Android phone if they designed a nice one at a great price point. Kinda like a Blackberry version of the OnePlus3. I think they will try but nothing like that exists today.

Blackberries are the best phones IMO, something as classy and solid as Nokia was...yet, both companies are in trouble Quote:

If someone big bought them out (like Apple?) and they came out with a new updated Blackberry that could compete with Iphone then sure, I'd buy one. I actually preferred the Blackberry to most smartphones.

I liked the Blackberry tablet. I bought it when they were discontinuing it. I want to say I was immediately turned off when I think it was Facebook that was $2.99 in their store (I'm not sure what app it was, but vaguely remember something that was free everywhere else.) i think if they revamped their service to like a 100% encrypted phone with a safe browser, and did something ultra unique, I'm sure people would like it.
I know I'd buy it if it had big screen, 4K, VR, Harmon Kardon speakers, along with ability to securely download Android apps that wouldn't compromise security. I'm tired of the same flagship phones throwing out tidbit upgrades on each release. |

I love my Priv. It was a shame BB10 didn't have the native apps as it was an amazing OS for a phone. I miss the true BB10 hub. The android version is weak at best.

BB10 system is the most secure mobile OS ever, unlike Android. It has Android virtual machine (I believe it's Android ICS), and all (99% of) Android apps work without any problems. You can also use Android version of Whatsapp, but the only downside is that it do not have real Hub integration, as all the other native IM apps have. Basically, you could either load Cobalt (which is Google Play), or if you are security paranoid, you could just use SNAP, which is basically an app to download apps off of Google Play Store. There will be BlackBerry 10 version 10.3.3 update soon, which would probably be the last one. All I can say is that BB10 OS is built on QNX, which is the most stable RTOS ever (had multitasking back in 1984), and it's used for nuclear plants, plants, trains, heavy machinery. For example, my phone has been turned on for 4 months, without being restarted. Too bad BlackBerry decided to abandon the platform (officially they will license it to others). I'm waiting for February when they will (probably) announce their last phone built by BlackBerry, which will be the real bar form qwerty ANDROID phone, unlike PRIV, which was a slider (a great phone!). If it never gets released, I will probably go with Passport Silver Edition and hope it will last another 2+ years. |

I have never tried it, and I don't think they can compete with the giants like Samsung and Apple, but who knows. I am curious to know why you dont want to use android/ios
