    It looks like relations between the US and Russia are at a low and the demonization of Putin is being pushed by Washington to the limits of propaganda. It also now looks as though the mainstream press think world war or the precursor is inevitable.

                      I don't think WW3 will ever happen.

                      The damage and destruction from WW2 was staggering; Most people never give it much thought but it was most interesting period of time. The war itself was one thing, but the aftermath afterwards had such a huge impact on society around the world. Nearly all of my relatives immigrated from Europe to the US because of WW2.

                      With NATO and the Warsaw Pact, WW3 is not really possible. I mean, it's possible but we know that any attack on either side would result in all out war. And no one wants that. Russia certainly doesn't want this; No other country suffered more during WW2 than Russia did.

                                      Well, we haven't had a world war in the past sixty years or so.... I am pretty confident we'll be okay.

                                      If you look back over time, Korea, Vietnam, Afghanistan (for both the US and Russia), Iraq, Georgia, Crimea.... So much has happened that could have or should have led us to a world war but hasn't.

                                              Russia and China are the only two countries that have militaries big enough to put up a real fight. China won't do it because they sell us all their shit.Attacking us would destroy them economically. Russia won't do it because the second that fight started NATO would be involved so they wouldn't be just taking on the US it would be most, if not all, of Europe. They are smart enough to know their only hope of winning is nukes and nukes mean everyone loses.

                                              We could have some skirmishes in various places (think another Vietnam type conflict), but I can't imagine there being another world war in the next 4 years.

                                                                              I was in grade school and high school in the 1980's. I remember going through drills where we had to practice getting under our desks in case of a nuclear war. I remember when the movie The Day After was going to be aired. I was in grade school and my school held a big parent-teacher meeting to warn parents about how graphic this movie was and that they should watch it with their kids if they let their kids watch it at all.

                                                                              Tension and talks breaking down between these two countries have been going on for decades. Russia likes to talk shit and push our buttons every once and a while just to remind us they are still a world power. There will be talks, and tension and maybe even some shots fired, but no World War.

The demonisation of Putin and the recurring negative rhetoric against him is basically the kind of thing which precedes an attack or leads to an attack. It happened with countless leaders before saddam, gaddafi etc etc. So its a reasonable presumption for the Russians to be defensive.
