When I was in an office job I would have wanted retirement immediately, whereas now that I'm working for myself from home I'm quite contented, I would be happy to work into my 70's part time, as long as I can still see and type, no major pains etc. I really want to keep my brain going as long as possible
Each year after 70 I would reduce the hours a bit, then by 80 probably wouldn't be doing so much anymore, unless I enjoyed it. Realistically though I might well be long dead well beforeComment

According to my retirement plan, in 15 years but, tbh, even if I did have the retirement fund, I think I would never truly retire. I took a year off 2 years ago and ended up being bored and miserable. Work is truly a gift and, more specifically, overcoming resistance is fucking amazing.
I'd probably find a new project to work on until my health prevents me from doing so

I think what Scott was meaning was more of the modern day FIRE people. The dream of saving enough to life off investment income while doing things that you have always dreamed. Travel, building your own company, volunteering, spending time with family, etc etc. It's a pretty big movement nowadays for people who bust their ass from mid 20s until 35-50 and retire early due to being financially independent from saving more than 50% of their come and investing it in the markets to get to their FIRE goal $ where their lifestyle is sustainable purely on investment returns without touching their actual honey pot.
