Nova/National Geographic/Nature underwater shows

Do any of you have or know where to get your hands on collections of these? I love the underwater shows about octopi, squid, sharks, whales, underwater geography, raising sunken ships, etc. I especially love documentaries about finding the Loch Ness Monster, uncovering the truth behind some long-unknown mystery of the sea and so on.

I've tried eBay but the pickings are a little slim. I'd like help getting my hands on these shows, preferably on DVD. Also, I am not looking for the crappy $4.99 discount nature videos you see at Best Buy. Anything from PBS is awesome, though, as long as it's the real thing and you didn't just tape it off TV

P.S. I alo love Scientific American Frontiers and most nature/technology shows from the Discover channel. Especially Wings.

You might check yahoo groups for those shows. There used to be quite a string of tv related groups back when we worked the groups and it was profitable.

We've seen a stray PBS dvd - vhs at places like CD Warehouse every now and then too. A flea market we were at last fall had a guy with a slew of them.

Do you guys have that computer etc show come to your area (once a month or so) ? I can't think of the URL to them right now. But they had dvd's and tapes too. Never stopped at those booths but its possible they might have access to those. The website had some of the items online.
Same thing for that once a year electronics etc etc extravaganza something. They had a site but we never visited it. Someone else might have these links tho.

Have you ever seen the octopus that changes colors really fast? It's the most awesome thing I've ever seen. The octopus turns on his colors and they run down his body at like 100 miles an hour. It looks like he is swimming super-fast through a rainbow.

Nothing happens to my sig if the casualties reach 4,000. People keep misunderstanding it's point. I am not saying "it's OK as long as less of them die than us." It isn't a justification for war, just a comparison. I may have to write an explanation page. At least gour people have been on me about it already.

I guess I could check out the groups, but I am looking to just buy these DVDs from anyone who has them and will let them go for a decent price. I'm not really looking for gropup appreciation, just private viewing

We have two shows that come through here every few months. The Blue Star Computer Show which is mostly hardware nd anohter one with a lot of DVDs, audio equipment, etc. I don't remember seeing any of the DVDs I am looking for at those places. Best Buy occasionally has one or two, but it's nothing that can be counted on.

S.A. I was thinking of the couple of the groups we peeked in to... some of the members were selling and trading the shows those particular groups were about. I thought you might luck onto one of those for pbs.

Might even be a pbs clearing house for their shows out there somewhere, like some other places have.

If I come across those show links, I'll get them to you.

I'd appreciate a heads-up if you do run across some.

yeah apparently it's how they communicate with each other.. fucking awesome... although that was a cuttlefish, probably octopi as well. seriously.. if near human intelligence was going to evolve in another species I think octopi would be way up in the possibility ladder.. brains with prehensile limbs..

about the sig.. I mainly don't understand why you don't have the 3000-5000 civilian deaths from Afghanistan in there as well, no point "doing the math" when half the equation so far is missing.

I've never seen a figure quoting that high a number of Civilian deaths from American actions in Afghanistan and I seriously doubt the real number is that high. Can you point me to some articles on this?

Again, the signature isn't a justification for war and it isn't connected with any specific action. I could have used any terrorist attack on the US (or any other nation for that matter) as the comparison point. It didn't have to be related to the Middle East. The 9/11 incident just happens to be very fresh and strong in people's minds, so I picked that one.
