Because of the Constitution that they hate so much is why the State's are able to make it's own decisions. Most liberals I know don't hate the Constitution, but you are right, the feds so far have shown no interest in changing pot's status on a national level. Neither of the current candidates is going to change that. However, I think we will see more and more states legalizing and eventually it will be like gay marriage. Eventually, we will end up with multiple states that have legal pot and then it will be challenged on a federal level and end up in front of the supreme court. What they do with it remains to be seen.
All that said, I think as countries go we have a hell of a lot more freedom than many countries in the world.Comment

I'm sure if you go to the right places and find the right people you can find plenty of conservatives that feel the same way. Both sides of the political spectrum have plenty of idiots in them.
That said, this wasn't a post about liberal vs conservative. I was just curious what freedoms a person wanted that they don't have. You made a great point about pot. I'm curious if others have other things they would like to be able to do that they can't.Comment

To add to that. I had an actual Representative of my state email me to explain the 10th Amendment to him several years ago. This is a guy who represents his people that didn't even understand it. Easy to compile that list. These may not apply to you today, but it's only a matter of time.
A) A Job. In the past 50 years government policy has led to jobs being exported.
B) A job paying a decent wage. The jobs that replaced the above are generally low paid.
C) Healthcare. No need to discuss that, Americans are ass raped for it.
D) Housing. Home ownership is getting expensive in some countries. The future looks bleak.
E) Crime. Low pay and levels of unemployment leads to an increase in crime.
F) Safety. Government policy over the last 50 years has made us all less safe.
Don't tell me you're all right. Look at all the graphs and calculate when it hits you. As for the "I will fight my way out of it" approach. So will 100,000 other people in your area.
There's one section who "Have never had it so good." That's not any of us.

Perhaps if you moved to an actual city (such as L.A.) you might have to remove those rose colored classes you wear. You would see that you are always under the watchful eye of the establishment and if you step out of line you will pay on way or another.
If you leave your property you lose rights. Even staying on your property you are being ass raped. You pay property taxes for the honor of being allowed to live in your home on your property.
If you fail to do that you will be fined, have the property seized, and you could even be jailed.
So you are in fact under government control ALL of the TIME. You are one of those who really know that rights are being taken away bit by bit BUT until it affects you personally you don't care. Well, open your eyes...get it yet?

Just curious why you are still here then? There are plenty of countries that have very little in the way of actual government so you will pretty much be free to do anything you would like to do. I'm not saying the government doesn't control our lives, I'm just saying there are other options out there and you are free to move to any of them.Comment

I doubt very much if the Founding Fathers create the First Amendment to mean Freedom of Speech. They would have been shocked to the core now it's been given to Native Americans, African Americans and Hispanics.
They wrote it to apply to the White Middle Class. And themselves. Because they then went on to write the Second Amendment so they had enough guns to shoot anyone who said the wrong thing.
