I HATE porsche's. They're a poor man's ferrari. (as stupid as what you said). The boxster is cheaper than the vette and has less performance. The Turbo 911 has a little more perforamnce for a lot more price. The non-turbo 911 is not worth it's price at all. I can't stand porsche's or their owners, who annoying and every one of them I have met has had an attitude. They also look like bubbles to me. I just don't like them. If I did like them, I'd own one :)

You liking porsche's doesnt suprise me tho. After all, you do own a volvo.

So what is it that you drive?

My friend bought silver corvette 3 years ago. Charm.

:thumbsup

Amazing how piped up your getting over a Corvette, and me ribb?n BV over it.
I also own a Virago 250? That?s one step above a moped? does that surprise you?

I didn't mean to come off so pissy. That's one reason I like vette's tho. Owners will stick up for each other (we'll even stick up for future owners :winkwink: ) You can pull into a parking lot and another vette owner who may be driving his pickup will come running over to talk cars. Unlike porsche owners I know who just throw their nose up in the air to everyone (porsche and non-porsche owners) becuase they think their shit doesn't stink. Just obvservations I've made :)

And you're right, everyone has their preferences. Some people even like VW's.

I like some german cars, and I like some american cars. They all have their ups and downs. However I'm yet to find a japanese car I like.

I've never heard of a Virago 250, got pics?

I keep looking at them. Dunno if I'd want to trade in the vette tho or get one in addition to the vette when I finally decide to get one. Also, I'm always weary of first year cars. Is the driver's side heat problem as bad as it's made out to be? Maybe if they make a yellow one next year and the color works it'll push me over the edge :)

I saw the picture..but figured with the major slam against Porsche and Porsche owners..which I am one...that you must have an Enzo stashed away somewhere..Believe it or not..I actually do talk to other car owners even if they are driving something non-german..:winkwink:

GoGoBar 04-01-2003 07:34 PM

Then you must not be a normal porsche driver :) I own a german car too, my X5, and I love it. I have nothing against german cars, Porsches just don't appeal to me.

Ok the yellow one is sitting in Jacksonville waiting on me tomorrow to pick up and sign the papers. I feel wierd about it. I want it but I don't really need it if you know what I mean. I am sort of a frugal bare bones type of person. I have a decent Z-72 4X4 now that I lease for my other business and probably will replace it with a Tahoe in November when the lease is up.

But I always wanted a vette for myself but I also feel like I should invest the money in something else that will make more money. But with this GM 0% financing and me getting older and older every day (Dead is a very long time last I checked). and who wants to be 65 driving around in a vette anyways? Some of my friends tell me go ahead and get it while you can and while you're young (36) and some people tell me that I am being frivalous. Fuck I hate decisions like this.

What do you all think?

Good question... I'll give you my unique (and un-popular) perspective on this...

It's just money... What's the worse that can happen? Even if you fuck up your credit, no big deal... I've sold perfectly good cars that ran fine... but looking back it was a lot about ego... Wanting a fancy car for the wrong reasons can be a weakness of character... if you really like the feel of speed -- go to a racetrack or something... go as fast as you need to -- then get over it... Are you a slave to your desires? There will always be some guy on the road faster than you... if you are doing it to impress girls or your business associates, sure why not... put your URL on the damn thing... also the Vette has class... and it's something that you've wanted for a long time... Probably you want to buy it but you feel guilty -- fuck the guilt... just buy it and learn your lesson the hard way... :Graucho

Once you've had it a year or two maybe you will be watching some guy driving down the road in a piece of shit having way more fun than you are...

Do you really want girls that just like your car? On the other hand -- do cool women exist that aren't about the bling? These are difficult questions, but the fact remains that you will get more pussy in a hot body than in a hot car... You could spend all that time u would be driving (sitting on your ass) and working for more $ to pay off the Vette in the gym, time better spent working out or jogging -- getting sunshine! -- not slaving away sitting on your ass for General Motors... Not only will u feel better not working so much and being healthy, you will look better, and the opposite sex will definitely notice... On the other hand, drunk driving, high RPM's and road-head is fun too...

My theory is everyone gets to a point where they have the nicest car they will ever want to own -- then they just grow up and get over it... Some of the most enlightened and happy people I've ever met don't even own cars...

anyway I'm going for a walk...

GoGoBar 04-01-2003 10:00 PM

TheFly over complicates it.

If it makes you happy, buy it :)

Definitely buy the fucker!
The corvette is the best sports car you can get for the money. You wont be dissappointed, its worth it.

I just sold my vette cause I have always wanted a 911 Turbo, which I enjoy a lot more, but most people dont think its worth spending $97,000 on a car.

MrBrian 04-01-2003 11:53 PM

lens,
i hope you sold your c5 i didnt know you had...and surely not the '61 :(

Rich 04-02-2003 12:06 AM

Black, try to go with the Z06 if you can get one. That's what I have. I've owned a number of Vettes in my day, this is the keeper. It's not a convertable but if you go for a drive in one you won't want anything else, trust me.

Question? Here's your simple answer in 4 words: "If not now, when?"
